Beautiful small town.
Beautiful small town. Plentiful accommodation and restaurants, most of which were dog friendly. Ideal for visiting beautiful Blenheim Palace and nearby Oxford. We ate at Punchbowl pub , good friendly service, very dog friendly, food and drink good. Would not stay at Macdonald Bear next time but probably at one of the many pubs that had rooms.

Just a quiet ‘market’ town, mostly individual shops where all the staff working in them were genuinely interested in serving you and making conversation as to why you were visiting and where you’d come from.

Our trip was fundamentally to view the lights and the house at Blenheim Palace; the theme was Sleeping Beauty.
We arrived at about 3pm. Just right as dusk was setting in. We toured the house which was utterly incredible - How a person or company could put together such a phenomental piece of design, unchanging in its beauty, throughout the rooms that had been decorated to continue the theme - I do not know. To continue outside and see the light display was nothing short of sensational - it lit up the whole of the 1.5 miles of the walking tour and the evening sky. An unforgettable experience. The next day we shopped through the village enjoying its ancient buildings and some of the shops filled with objects d`art , clothes, furniture and lighting. An experience that cannot be better but can be changed...........in summer.

Woodstock is a pretty medieval town with many eateries, interesting shops, a free museum, lots of walks and, of course, Blenheim Palace nestled next to it in all its splendour.
Apart from the main Street, there are many attractive side streets to explore.
The buildings are attractive, being made from the local stone which was also used to build Blenheim Palace. They appear to ‘glow’ in the sun.

Woodstock has everything you could want from a small town – plenty of nice pubs that serve food, independent cafes and shops, including a great little independent bookshop and Louisa Maybury’s amazing textile shop.
From the moment we arrived the staff were fantastic. The hotel has a magical elegant historical charm there is nothing negative to say on any part . Perfect location for Blenheim palace . Carpark excellent as we arrived early and parked up then walked to the palace . The breakfast was one of the best , for choice freshness and nutrition, something for everyone. Freshly cooked by lovely friendly happy staff ( rare these days ) . I would now never stay anywhere but the Marlborough arms when visiting this area .
This hotel is right in the centre of beautiful Woodstock with plenty of free overnight parking just outside the door. Rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was deliciously made with all local produce and plenty of choice. Staff were very welcoming and all in all it was a perfect little break away from it all. Oxford can easily be reached by park and ride service and Blenheim palace, with its beautiful grounds and interesting history, is a short walk away. We will definitely return.
The staff at The Crown were very friendly and helpful . Our room was lovely with a very comfortable king sized bed and nice touches like fluffy bath robes and towels and cowshed bath products . The breakfasts on both days was delicious . It is set in the beautiful town of Woodstock with lots of places to eat and drink and easy access to Blenheim Palace - a gate very near the pub .
We had a fabulous stay, everything was perfect, the staff are amazing, so helpful, the hotel is in a great location. There are no evening meal options but there is lots of choices of places to eat within easy walking distance of the hotel. There is private parking. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and the food was good quality. We'll be back. Many thanks.
Location was lovely, very close to the grounds of Blenheim Palace and central to Woodstock and all it has to offer. It's away from the main road so quiet at night. The hotel is an historical coaching inn. Dinner and breakfast were super; tasty and plentiful. The staff were warm and professional.
Location, location, location! Lovely to have been able to stay so centrally. House was comfortable and just right for a short stay in Woodstock with Blenheim park virtually on the doorstep (if you know where the town gate is!) and plenty of shops to poke around and superb restaurants and pubs.
The location and the room was very comfortable, but not worth the price taking into account, the greeting from the host no parking and quality of breakfast.Stayed at the Marlborough Arms previously and will definitely choose that or the hotel The Bear on our next visit..
