The Old Bell - Warminster, hotel in Warminster

Located above Wiltshire coaching inn that dates back to the 14th century, The Old Bell - Warminster offers bed and breakfast accommodation.

The evening meal was really nice, a bit pricey but lovely. Breakfast was good, there was a good selection and the cooked breakfast was well cooked. Lots of character being 14th century and perfectly situated for the town centre.

Rural Retreat, Wood Burner, Patio, Lawn, Breakfast, new wifi, hotel in Warminster

Rural Retreat, Wood Burner, Patio, Lawn, Breakfast, new wifi is situated in Warminster, 7.8 km from Longleat House, 30 km from University of Bath, as well as 31 km from Stonehenge.

When we arrived all the doors were wide open but no one appeared to be about, this was a little disconcerting as we had arrived at the correct time. The heating was not on but we soon figured that out and then went to put the log burner on to heat the place through. Unfortunately there was no wood so we messaged the hosts who left some at the door. We actually didn't end up using it as the underfloor heating had warmed the place up nicely. Breakfast items were provided as detailed in the instructions , with a carton of UHT milk and butter and juice in the fridge as well as fresh local eggs. Lovely location once we found it using whatthreewords app. The Snug is very quirky and cosy with everything you would need for a short stay. Comfortable bed and large bedroom , plenty of power points etc.

Warminster is a perfect location to see the many sites the area has to offer, the local train station is convenient to Bath, Bristol and Salisbury all worth a visit for a day. We went out twice for an evening meal, The Lamb at Hindon and The Prince Leopald at Upton Lovell, food was fantastic, but make sure you book ahead it can get really busy.

Great for walking and cycling - peaceful location. Small market town with several supermarkets and local shops. Nice walk around Nature Reserve and lake. Best walks up into the fields beyond the railway line - especially in the winter snow.

We visit this hotel annually when we go to Longleat which is very close. We love the character. This year we had a family room which gave us masses of space. Free parking. Wetherspoons breakfast downstairs, 2 bottles water, chocolate as well as tea and coffee in room. Love the secondary double glazing which doubles as fridge for water and juice. Very quiet on top floor.

Easy to park near the high Street. Spent 2 hours walking around shops and local area. Followed a 'blue plaque' walk we downloaded. We thought this was a nice old town to potter around before visiting relatives nearby.

Food was delicious with a good selection of vegetarian/vegan options. Staff were all amazingly helpful, patient and friendly. Facilities were great and the outside dining area, outside pool/jacuzzi and outside bar cabana made it feel like an exotic holiday rather than a UK hotel break. The room we were given was fantastic - exceeded all our expectations and was so luxurious that we didn't want to leave it ..... we were only lured away by the great spa and delicious cocktails!
