Very pretty high street, lots of interesting old buildings, obviously some history to be read up on! We were able to have a lovely quiet stroll around in the warm evening. Obviously chopped by the A12 at some point but still retains nice local atmosphere and character.

The angel inn did not disappoint.
The angel inn did not disappoint. The rooms are clean, warm with comfy beds and great facilities.
The breakfast menu is varied and very well cooked. The staff were so efficient and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Buses run regularly into Southwold which is a beautiful seaside town full of quirky shops, cafes and a couple of welcoming pubs. It’s sandy beach is clean and it’s old pier is worth a stroll upon.

Our room was very clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff were friendly and breakfast was good, however our Sunday evening meal was a disappointment as when we booked to stay we liked the sound of the sample menu but only roasts and bar type food was available and the roasts had sold out !! I think they should clarify this on the website. Another negative for us was that there was nowhere to sit and relax and have a drink before or after our meal except a couple of bar stools the garden benches or our room. Another issue for us was the self service fridge which stores fresh milk in for tea and coffee, however it was empty in the morning so no tea in bed.

Didn't stop in the village at all but it looked inviting and although very close to a main road, there was not too much noise. Pleasant village and close to all the local attractions (bird reserves, Southwold, etc. etc.)
