Staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and went above and beyond for all their guests. We were made to feel welcome and supported by everyone throughout our stay. The location was fantastic, handy for shops and town. The rooms were clean and well serviced , fab shower! Parking was harder to find but we were able to park short distance away on non-permitted roads. We would gladly stay here again! Brilliant value for money :)

Our room was very pleasant and our two little dogs were well catered for, which was much appreciated. The dinner was good, staff very pleasant, charming & fun to talk to and we were able to talk with other guests at adjoining tables which was most enjoyable. We liked the ambience of the dining room, well laid out with smart linen table clothes but without being pretentious.
Surrounded by the stunning natural beauty of Dartmoor National Park, the Globe Inn is rich in original character and traditional charm, with open fires, home-cooked food, good wines and real ales.

Great location as we were cycling the Devon Coast to Coast. However the staffing issues meant tricky to get hold of towels that we wanted to hire and some delay in getting into the room. However we enjoyed our stay.

The place, the views, the environment here are fantastic. Nicola, our host, is so kind, polite, attentive, and approachable. She recommended many interesting places to visit in the surroundings, which greatly helped to enjoy Devon.
The room was cosy, comfy, a nice place to rest and relax.
Breakfast was deliciously home made and with plenty of choices.

Beautifully located just outside Okehampton, opposite a great pub and next to a National Trust site - Finch Foundry.

If you like the countryside and walking then this is a great place to come. Dartmoor is a beautiful place and the river here at South Zeal adds to the charm. We only had one nights stay but managed a three hour walk and a trip to the Finch Foundry which was most interesting. Furthermore, there was a Quaker cemetery and nice garden at this National Trust property. We wanted to visit the nearby market town of Chagford but didn't get time, a great excuse to come to this neck of the woods again. We accidentally found Fernworthy reservoir which was a sight worth seeing.

There are numerous walks in the area and as keen walkers we loved doing those. Also the village itself is very interesting. Some of the buildings have great history.
We have relatives there so it was nice to visit them. Dartmoor is easily accessible from South Zeal too so if you’re interested in walking there is plenty to do.
It’s also not far from Okehampton and a little bit further to Exeter.
a beautifully maintained historic inn in a lovely village. we were warmly welcomed and stayed in a very comfortable well appointed room. the hotel bar and restaurant were superb. we stayed two nights and had all our meals in the hotel. breakfast were superb freshly prepared with plenty of choice. we had two dinners - one in the restaurant the second in the bar. menu is varied and interesting. all the dishes were nicely presented. we loved our two day stay and can’t wIt to go back.
Beautiful hotel, with a fascinating history, amazing food, very comfortable room and fantastic, friendly hosts - the local, poetry/storytelling/song evening that was on the night we were there was just the cherry on the top. There are loads of walks and hikes on offer directly from the hotel or a short drive away and the whole area is just beautiful! Highly, highly recommend a visit here!
My husband and I spent two nights in this wonderful historic building. Lyn and Simon are the perfect hosts, they both went out of their way to make our stay perfect. We ate in the hotel both evenings and the food was excellent, the breakfast was also very tasty. All of the staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming. A fantastic stay - we will definitely be returning, thank you!
Everything about this amazing Hotel and restaurant is just great. If you like history and scenery, this is the place to stay. Over 1000 years old converted from a Monestry 100's of years ago it keeps its old style feel with modern facilities in the room. The bar is impressive with its stone walls and classic wooden beams. The staff are so friendly and the food is just amazing.
The location was perfect for what we needed for 1 night. The breakfast was lovely
he couple that run the hotel. The gentleman that received us when we arrived was lovely very welcoming and showed us to our room which I have to say was lovely, and the hotel itself was just lovely. Good menu and wine and the food was delicious
Breakfast very good, freshly cooked. Room spotless clean and fresh. Owners/staff very helpful and always willing to offer information on the hotel and the area. Very nice bar, where you could easily imagine sitting there 200 plus years ago as hotel is steeped in history
We loved the history of the building and the village of South Zeals. We also liked the fact that it’s location in a partially unknown area of Devon made it less touristy.
The location was amazing - small village on the edge of Dartmoor. The hotel had an amazing history. The hosts were very welcoming food excellent - good value for money.
The hotel was steeped in history and well cared for. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The bedroom was spacious and very comfortable and also steeped in history.
Wonderful stay ,in a wonderful hotel . Staff were really friendly. Very clean and comfortable. Evening meals are amazing and good value . Highly recommended !!
