The room was comfortable, clean and quirky (very old building, so our bathroom had a dramatic slope in the floor which was pretty fun to slide down in socks). The building itself was very cool, tons of character. The manager and senior staff were excellent - attentive, helpful and charming. Breakfast was generous with a good selection.
The London Beach Country Hotel & Golf Club is set in beautiful parkland, 1.6 km from the market town of Tenterden. Guests at the London Beach are 15 minutes’ drive from Rye and beautiful coastline.
The room was tiny but fine for one night. The dinner was ok but not great, the breakfast was excellent. The young lady who worked the bar, served the food and ran the reception was helpful and did her best. The only other member of staff we met was rude and seemed upset that we didn’t want piles of bird pop in our room. The place generally looked like it needed some extra hands to clean up.

A small village with not much in the way of shops.
A small village with not much in the way of shops. It has a butchers, a sort of art gallery but only open on certain days as is the Vintage clothes shop, both were closed when we were there on a Tuesday. No corner shop so to speak to buy anything you may have forgotten or ice creams for children, so maybe not the place you would go with kids although there is a play area for them but I would think more for the locals than visitors. There is a beautiful church to see steeped in history from around the 1300's. Smarden is a place you would visit or stay in if you were going somewhere in close proximity such as the cat sanctuary. I would highly recommend The Chequers Inn to stay or just to have a meal as the food is exceptional.

We loved the food. Plenty of it and we'll cooked.
We loved the food. Plenty of it and we'll cooked. The Wi-Fi availability was limited to the main building and did not extend to the bedroom in the rear. The proprietor advised they were trying to fix this.
Quiet Period Country village Pub with comfortable accommodation in the heart of Smarden, a lovely Kentish village. Room was decorated in period style with modern comfortable facilities, en suite shower etc.
The restaurant was quiet, food excellent, served promptly and by quiet, helpful staff.
Excellent breakfast. Nothing to dislike.
This Pub has a really beautiful garden . Owner has a lovely collection of plants , oh and a friendly Cat.
Stayed whilst visiting relatives would definitely return.
The room was lovely. We stayed in the Guinevere room (luxury double room with brass bathtub) which is spacious and has a comfortable bed and large walk in shower. The food is wonderful - all the evening meals we had were delicious. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Great location for visiting National Trust properties (lots in the area), as well as Leeds Castle. The village of Smarden is also pretty and worth walking round.
This is such a lovely place. We have stayed here 4-5 times now since discovering it about 7 years ago. It’s our little safe place to escape to whenever need a little break. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The rooms are full of character and charm. The food is first class. Lovely beer garden. Plenty of parking. Very peaceful place in Smarden which is a lovely village. Close to other parts of Kent which are worth a visit too.
Room was perfect for our needs. Clean and really nicely furnished.
Meals were very good and good value. Breakfasts were delicious with a good choice of cereals, fruit and hot food
Impressed with the lovely proprietor, she made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Well done to the staff who worked hard to ensure we were served promptly. We would recommend this family run hotel.
lovely old Inn with a stunning garden at the back. Olde Worlde en-suite room with lots of charming character. We enjoyed a Sunday roast and breakfast was exactly what we wanted. we had plenty of tea and coffee with fresh fruit, cereals and of course a full English breakfast. Smarden is quiet and very pretty - we enjoyed our stay very much. Parking is at the rear.
