Rowton Castle, hotel in Ruyton of the Eleven Towns

Rowton Castle is a beautiful 17th-century Grade II listed building, set in 17 acres of tranquil grounds, and 6 miles from the historic market town of Shrewsbury.

As soon as I arrived the staff were absolutely amazing, nothing is ever too much trouble. I travel a lot for work and so am by myself when I stay away but I was made to feel just like one of the family. The hotel its self including my gorgeous 4 poster bedroom was immaculate, large and one of the the comfiest beds I've ever slept in. The breakfast list was really good, everything you could think of was on it. It arrived piping hot and was delicious, I didn't eat in the evening but I'm sure the food and menu here would be second to none also. The grounds and gardens are very pretty and great for walking/jogging around. When ever I'm working in Shrewsbury and the surrounding areas I always stay overnight but I usually stay in a large modern hotel with spa, gym and pool. However, Rowton Castle has impressed me so much that I'll be using this place from now on and do with out the gym/pool.

The shepherd hut is stunning. Interior is beautiful and the facilities all high quality. Bits in the fridge were really helpful and welcomed. Took advantage of the sunshine in the front garden with the garden furniture. Pub at the campsite literally a minutes walk and staff there so friendly. Communication was exceptional and felt so welcome. Will definitely come back xx

Old building as can be told from the name.

Old building as can be told from the name. Landlady was very pleasant and forgiving of the time of night I arrived. Stairs are steep. accommodation is very good for cost. Bed was lovely and warm and I slept like a brick. Recommend it in a really beautiful area of Salop.

I could not gain access to begin my stay at the hotel. I spent two hours trying to get into the hotel. No answer to phone calls or banking on the door. Am now waiting to get a full refund from Booking .com.

This town is tucked away well into the Shropshire...

This town is tucked away well into the Shropshire Countryside. Blink and you will miss it. But if you do find it, a visit to the church is a must. The Talbot Inn serves good beer (Joules) and the Governor and his wife are friendly. It has a small menu which perhaps could be extended to give diners a wider choice. There is also a cafe in the town which is supposed to open at 9.00 but during the three days we were there it was closed when we tried at 9.45. Shrewsbury and Oswestry are easily accessible.
