We had never visited Stone before and we were amazed how many pubs there were in close proximity 😁
We did a treasure trail whilst we were there and really enjoyed it along with dipping in and out of pubs at the same time!
We have an evening meal at the Crown&Anchor which was really delicious.
The Mill@Stone Hotel was a lovely place to stay too.

I was there for a wedding so didn't really see the local area but went home to Yorks via Buxton. The road from the B&B to Buxton goes through the national park and the views were simply stunning! I recommend anyone to go visit this beautiful part of the English countryside.

Stone is in a lovely area and the high street had a variety of shops. There was a good choice of places to eat within walking distance. There is a wharf with canal boats. It is within easy reach of Alton Towers and is ideal if you are visiting the theme park.

Also Aston Marina is lovely & the Spa is Modershall Oaks very nice & relaxing. So there is so much to do - Also keep an eye on Events for Sandon Hall & Staffordshire Race course. Farmers Market first Saturday of every month in Stone high street a must :) & don't forget Alton Towers :)
The full English breakfast was excellent. I don't know how they served it up so quickly! It seemed to be on the table, perfectly cooked and hot, within two minutes of ordering it! And it was very tasty and done to my liking as requested. The location is perfect, hidden away alongside the Scotch Brook, (it is an old water mill after all), just outside the lovely little town of Stone in Central Rural Staffordshire. It is just 2 minutes' walk into the centre of town but the Mill Hotel feels very rural, being situated in a green valley.
I stayed after my work, loved this place very much with their comfy bed and room arrangements. The hotel looks like they have renovated recently, it has maintained its charm and beauty. I walked through the high street in the morning, I found very interesting and people in this town is really welcoming. The canal next to the hotel seems a good spot for morning and evening walks. I love to come and visit this town with my family. The high street view from my room was amazing, I would definitely stay here again.
The owners were chatty and knowledgeable of the area, and easy to talk to.Two lovely dogs and a friendly cat on site..Slept well on a big comfortable bed.Breakfast was excellent .Good location 10 minutes from Stone,20 minutes from Stafford, and very handy for a wedding we attended at Moddershall Oaks. Can also reccomend local firm Star Taxi's.Good for visiting the Gladstone Pottery Museum also, only 25 minutes away.
The Monkey House B&B is a lovely little place to stay in the small town of Stone. We were made to feel very welcome by the hosts Chrissie and Noel (and of course little Bella). We were given most of the top floor and a living room to ourselves with two great rooms with plenty of space and comfiness.
Would recommend if you are planning to stay in the area for a couple of days.
Unlike some of the posts I’ve read in other places, I found the Crown hotel to be clean, inviting and downright classic! The staff were very friendly and consistently making sure I was comfortable. The newly opened Indian restaurant “chilli dum” was fantastic and soon it’s going to be the new hot spot of stone. I will definitely stay there when I come back!
Breakfast was fab and the staff were friendly.
I also REALLY appreciated the member of staff who pointed is the direction of a nearby pathway we were looking for.
We know the hotel (we've visited Stone regularly over the years and we've stayed here on many occasions), the room have been redecorated and furnished very nicely ... well done
3 en-suite bedrooms slept 6 easily , really comfortable beds, lovely showers and bathrooms. Great welcome by Phil and all their pets. Idyllic farm setting, great views over towards the Welsh borders.
Really well equipped in every way leaving nothing wanting at all. Lovely village of Hilderstone in a lovely region of Staffordshire.
Hard to say, really was treated like we were taking advantage during the covid situation, receptionist at first was lovely but then felt interrogated later on, strange times but as an essential worker and a single father I felt a little like we weren't allowed out. Shame because beautiful hotel and gardens

The hotel is within walking distance to the town centre. Shops are close by.
Ample free parking available. Breakfast was good and the close-by Portuguese restaurant was very good.
The room as well as the shower had a very good size.
A lovely spacious and comfortable apartment with all facilities needed. Location is great with Stone in walking distance. Hosts were friendly and easy to communicate with. Would definitely recommend.
