The Globe, hotel in Rockbeare

Located in the centre of Topsham, just 4 miles from Exeter, The Globe is a beautifully renovated 16th-century coaching inn.

What a lovely find. The Globe was both picturesque and welcoming. Discovered this gem while looking for a pit-stop on our travels. We were initially drawn to the traditional pub style of the restaurant, but wow! You couldn't ask for a friendlier team. Fantastic food, excellent service and selection of drinks at the bar. Beautifully quaint building a short walk from the harbour. Our room on the balcony was clean and incredibly comfortable - even equipped with a nespresso machine of our own! Facilities are kept well. We both had dinner and breakfast with The Globe, very satisfactory and excellent choices for a range of dietary requirements. Alcohol free options available, and a dog-friendly environment to boot. Great value for a much recommended visit. Will absolutely be keeping this name in mind for future trips.

Southernhay House Hotel, hotel in Rockbeare

This intimate hotel is set in a Grade II listed Georgian gentleman's residence in central Exeter.

It was close to the Cathedral which is why I booked it. I loved the history of the house and grand but homely feel of the place. The breakfast was delicious and I would recommend it especially with the added mushrooms. I had tofu, roast tomatoes, spinach and large field mushrooms on sourdough. You don't have to be a vegetarian to like this!!

Tumbling Weir Hotel, hotel in Rockbeare

Nestled between River Otter and its mill stream, this charming 17th century thatched cottage is set in the heart of the historic Ottery St Mary.

The room was super comfortable, immaculate and modern decor inc hot drinks and biscuits. Although advertised as a small double, just for myself it was more that adequate. Lovely clean bathroom, hot showers and great toiletries as well. The hotel is very beautiful inside and out. The breakfast in the morning was superb and the staff were very polite and accommodating. Central to the Ottery St Mary town so easy to walk in and beside a large Sainsbury’s. I highly recommend a stay here and hope to return myself sometime in the future.

The Salutation Inn, hotel in Rockbeare

Located in Topsham, 4.8 km from Sandy Park Rugby Stadium, The Salutation Inn provides accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Because we arrived on Sunday and left on Monday, it was all self check in and no breakfast, which was a bit disappointing. We would have stayed at the Globe if we were made aware at the time of booking. The rooms and place itself was lovely.

A tricky place to stay if you need to eat out; the nearest restaurants are just too far to walk comfortably (and were all booked solid when I was there- Covid issues, I had overlooked the problem). However there is nice walking not too far away (by car). Very convenient for the airport but with no airport noise.

Steve and all the staff were wonderful, very polite and friendly. Room was large and with a great view, breakfast was good and nothing was to much trouble. Had a little trouble finding the hotel but due to sat nav directions only. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Garden great Parking superb Staff lovely Breakfast fantastic Very peaceful would definitely stay there again all the above were exceptional The only issue is the signage for directions as it is so low to the ground it’s hard to see so I had to drive up and down until I found it but this is the only fault one could find venue very easy to miss

This was our second overnight stay at this quiet and peaceful hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and we were able to enjoy a drink from the bar in the garden at the rear of the property. There is a Chinese restaurant and a pub/restaurant within walking distance.

This is a B&B not really a hotel as no other meals are on offer. There are pubs & restaurants near by but it should be classed only as a B&B and made clear before booking. Otherwise a pleasant enough stay with very friendly family ownership and very clean. They do cater for private functions however.
