The Carlton Hotel, hotel in Ormesby Saint Margaret

Facing the beach, the Carlton Hotel is located in Great Yarmouth. It offers a restaurant and bedrooms with private bathrooms. Yarmouth Tourist Centre is a 5-minute walk from the hotel.

This is my second stay at The Carlton, and it confirms the good points of my previous visit, and I will gladly stay there again. On both occasions the rooms have been large, toasty warm, with constant hot water for washing and showers, and both beds were incredibly comfortable. The rooms were also clean and tidy too. These are four areas that can spoil a stay in a hotel if not achieved, but both my rooms have ticked these boxes well. The location is also very good for the beach, and the town, but also in a quiet location too. Special note for the excellent breakfast too. Well worth the money, and after sampling it last time I booked it for every day on this stay.

Tastebuds cafe great for breakfasts and lunches; great food...

Tastebuds cafe great for breakfasts and lunches; great food at good prices. Fish and Chippery was tasty food, well cooked, great service, quick and efficient. There is a Nisa shop that stocks most day to day or emergency food, cleaning materials, a few toys, papers, gifts. Another gift shop nearby - cash only though. There is a cash machine on the Parkdean site but it charges £1.85 for a withdrawal. Heated swimming pool; small but nice for little ones. The beach is lively and sandy, and long enough for there to be space for all. Swimming in the shallow surf is good; not recommended for young children or poor swimmers. Regular bus service into and from Great Yarmouth and surrounding villages. Busses every 20 minutes, Entertainment at the Parkdean site and a bar. We saw seals nearby, too.

    The beach was nearby.

The beach was nearby. It was sandy, clean and stretched for miles. We went off season but it seemed a very family orientated place. Places to visit: Seal Beach, Horsey (dirt road opposite Poppyland Tea Rooms leads to car park adj. the beach). Poppyland Tea Rooms are a bit quirky. A must see visit if you like Dads Army. If you are fit enough, you can walk along the beach to Caister on Sea and Great Yarmouth. Just remember you have to walk the same distance back :-)
