The Bell Inn is several miles from Lyndhurst in the beautiful New Forest; lovely walks over heath and woodland and, if you're lucky, you'll encounter ponies, donkeys and pigs roaming free locally; drive carefully!

Lyndhurst is a great place to stay for exploring the New Forest. It has a good mix of interesting shops and restaurants and a good sized car-park in the centre.
That said, it can get very busy and there can be traffic queues in high-season since it is a bit of a bottleneck. So I'd recommend visiting slightly off-season.

What let it down for us was the lack of options for gluten free breakfast no cereals no fruit no yogurts then when we did get breakfast it was cold toast rock hard it wasn’t even busy only us two for breakfast
We wanted to order gluten free fish and chips but fryer broken so was limited on evening options but what we did order was tasty I must say I was impressed by the staff knowledge on g/f intolerance and allergies.

Lyndhurst has some interesting shops particularly the antiques emporium and some nice pubs and restaurants and the Anglican church of St Michael's where the original Alice who was the model for ''Alice in Wonderland''was buried.
I went to the Passage to India Indian restaurant which is quite near to the Penny Farthing hotel.
There is a Ferrari showroom if you want to check them out but the cars are very expensive.

It is a lovely village, full of character.
It is a lovely village, full of character. It was the fourth, or fifth, time we have stayed in, or around, Lyndhurst. There are great shops, cafe's, restaurants and pubs. It is small enough to comfortably walk around. We ate in "The Forage, which is a modern Italian style restaurant with a very good menu selection. The only issue is that Lyndhurst is a focal point for all the roads into and out of the NewForest, which often leads to long traffic queues into and out of the village. However, the main road through is one way, which makes it easier for pedestrians to cross.
Lovely staff, Debbie showed us to our room on arrival and made sure we had everything we needed, Katie was very friendly and helpful if we needed anything.
LOVED how housekeeping DIDN'T unnecessarily change our towels. All too often hotels have the "consider the environment..." notice but STILL change neatly folded towels. Well done White Rabbit.
The location, within easy walking distance of Lyndhurst's fabulous food outlets, also has great parking for our classic cars.
The Stag Hotel was excellent. Great facilities, very clean. Plenty of space and a lovely staff team. The food in the restaurant was also excellent. We really enjoyed the pie of the day as well as lunch offerings and the breakfast that was included in our stay was consistently very good. We didn't bring our dog, but over our 3 day stay many people brought in their dogs. It was very dog friendly, they even offer a dog menu for a Sunday Roast!
It was close enough to the main streets of Lyndhurst. Everything within walking distance. Everything needed was supplied, the room is clean, bed comfortable, enough drawers and cupboard for our things and coffee and tea facilities are nicely presented in the room. The breakfast was worthy of any good hotel and the hosts are very attentive.
Great location on the edge of Lyndhurst town centre, one of the nicest towns in the New Forest. We received a warm welcome from the charming and very helpful host. We arrived on one of the hottest days of the year and our room had been cooled by having the curtains closed - a nice touch.
Very comfortable hotel, staff were all helpful and very friendly. Excellent location within short walking distance of Lyndhurst's shops and restaurants.
Breakfast was great with a good selection of well cooked hot choices and generous servings. The small full breakfast lasted us all day!
Good location on the main road into Lyndhurst. Once there it is an easy walk into the town. A good base for exploring the New Forest. The room was clean and quite spacious and the meals were great. Staff very helpful. Very quiet in the room which was a surprise for a pub accommodation.
Everything about Spot in the Woods was excellent. The location, hotel decor and room was beautiful. The staff are so friendly and attentive. They couldn't be more helpful. The food is delicious. The surrounding area is stunning. It was a very relaxing stay. We would highly recommend it.
Excellent location for exploring. Hotel about 10 min walk from Lyndhurst town centre. Room was very clean and bed very comfortable. Shower was powerful and we also had a spa bath which was lovely. Breakfast was very tasty and staff very friendly. Would recommend.
The location was fabulous, within easy walking distance from Lyndhurst and The New Forest. There were paths from the property directly into the forest and horses and deer were often seen on those walks. The breakfast was lovely.

I choose well with the Stag Hotel. The staff were friendly but not over-bearing, my room was large, immaculately clean and well appointed. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.
Friendly staff, great location, beautiful room, we had a jacuzzi bath was amazing.
Only downer was the breakfast. Wasn’t great. But overall really good hotel.
Would defo return.
Very clean, comfortable hotel and stylish bedroom. Comfy bed and pillows. Very friendly staff and good food. Great location for New Forest and ample parking on site.
