Beautiful area and in early autumn it was magic.

Beautiful area and in early autumn it was magic. We can recommend the Dawnnay Arms in Newton on Ouse for an evening meal - delightful. If we went again following considerable rain, we would check that our route wasn't across one of the smaller bridges on the River Ouse - took us a little longer to arrive, but such a beautiful area.

Fantastic for us as we wanted to go fishing, beautiful place, tranquil, fantastic host. We arrived in the afternoon went straight out to take the whole area in and forgot about our evening meal, rang the host and she accommodated us with a fantastic meal. We were all well impressed (4 of us aged between 17 to 50) definitely recommend

Location, tranquility (which may be temporary due to fewer visitors at the time), friendly hosts and... North Yorkshire which speaks for itself. It's great country for cycling, but if not cycling, perhaps bring a car, due to its relatively rural position. That said, a bus runs from the front door! If driving, there is a charming old wooden bridge close to the village which requires 40p toll fee per crossing. It is possible to take a different route, but definitely worth mentioning.
