The area where breakfast is served is very nice. The location is nice. The building itself has not been renovated or refreshed in a while, with old carpets everywhere, the room was small and terrifying with a tiny little single bed somewhere up in the attic, and no shower, just a bathtub. Do not recommend.

Lincoln was a powerhouse of medieval England and retains amazing monuments from that period. In the Uphill district is the castle built for William the Conqueror. Inside its an original copy of the Magna Carta and its ramparts offer fabulous city views. Across the cobbled square which houses the large Christmas market is huge Lincoln Cathedral whose unusual façade features 2 tall towers, while another at its centre overlooks the Bishop’s Palace.
Connecting the cathedral quarter with the Downhill district is aptly named Steep Hill, a narrow street lined with unique shops and historic buildings including the Jew’s House. Even older are the Roman Newport Arch, Mint Wall and the well on Bailgate.
This road slopes down to meet the River Witham at High Bridge, a stone-arched structure with a half-timbered building atop that is the oldest of its kind in England. Lincoln boat trips depart from the Brayford Pool just west.
Another monument is the 18th-century Ellis Mill, opposite the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. The Collection combines an archaeology museum and art gallery, while The Lawn has a conference centre and the Joseph Banks Conservatory, displaying artefacts he brought back from adventures with Captain Cook.
Booking.com’s Lincoln accommodation covers luxury waterfront hotels, guest houses by the university and cheap apartments near the train station.

Cathedral is a must.
Cathedral is a must. Don't visit Lincoln without taking a tour around the cathedral. Castle tour was also good, although it's more of a prison than a castle now - but there's still a lot of history there. Strugglers pub worth a visit if you like real ale and real pubs.

The Cathedral is stunning.
The Cathedral is stunning. We saw it for the first time when it was illuminated after dark and we walked through the archway to see the West Front in all its glory. Ticket prices include guided tours.
The walk up Steep Hill leads past beautiful little shops and cafes and the cobbled streets in the area are full of character. The Pie Shop is a great place to eat and Mary the waitress who served us is so friendly and welcoming. The Castle is also interesting with great views of the Cathedral and the very interesting Victorian prison.
We went on a Ghost Walk which as well as the ghost stories, which were told with great enthusiasm and flair, included historical information. The Strugglers pub is a great place to chat with friendly local people.

I have never visited the old part of the city, and the house is located in Bailgate which is one of the oldest areas, so plenty of lovely architecture and interesting history to be discovered! The cathedral is absolutely stunning - we went late on a Sunday afternoon so it was free, but because there was a service we couldn't see the whole of it so you'd have to balance that with paying the rest of the time. The city is incredibly dog friendly, which was a huge boon to us. We also had a wonderful lunch (we didn't take the dog but they do have dog friendly areas, just make sure you let them know when you book) at The White Horse on Hungate - excellent food and service :) You have a huge range of shops in the new town should you need them, but also a great range of independent shops and cafes around the old town too, so lots of choice. The castle was an excellent day out - it took most of the time just to do the castle walls, so worth paying just for that if you are short of time. Car parking in general is quite expensive, though.

Lincoln has a historic area around the cathedral and castle and a more provincial town area. The historic area is accessed via quite steep hills - you need to be relatively fit. There are several good restaurants in Lincoln. I would particularly recommend the superb Jews House Restaurant.

Loved the old part at the top of Steep Hill with the Cathedral and castle and down at the bottom by the waterfront. Free tours of the town and people very friendly.
Lots of places to eat but our 2 course set lunch at Lawson's restaurant on The Strait, was exceptional. There is a Ride and Walk bus which is great value if you need help going up and down that hill!

The cathedral and cathedral quarter is far and away best feature. The castle with Victorian prison is also interesting. Not keen on the main town centre. Bomber Command centre also well worth a visit just south of Lincoln.

Yet another lovely stay at this hotel. The Holiday Inn at Brayford wharf has many benefits including its locality to Lincoln city centre and a vast selection of bars and restaurants nearby. The rooms we have stayed in were clean, well equipped and comfortable with a great view of the wharf / marina area. Their breakfast menu is comprehensive and falls nothing short of excellence. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. Cosy bar area with a very relaxed atmosphere.
The room was clean, well appointed, comfortable and warm. Needed to book in at the pub rather than the hotel on arrival.
The pub next door was great for an evening meal, even though we hadn't pre booked. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not cheap, but was hearty.
For a night away, on the outskirts of Lincoln you could do much worse, we would go again.
A great place to stay to enjoy Lincoln. A short walk to the city centre. Hotel has parking (£8.50 for 24 hrs), is clean, warm, friendly staff and a very decent breakfast included in the price. The dining area for breakfast is really nicely furnished and a nice space to sit and chat whilst watching the world go by. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.
This was a great location for our trip to Lincolnshire and Derbyshire. The hotel itself was very clean and tidy and the room was quite large. Plenty of parking too.
