Breakfast was great and the kids loved it which is more than half the battle.
The location was ideal for walking into York and ideally located for places like the national rail museum.

A boutique Art Nouveau hotel in historic York. Minutes from the heart of the city, overlooking the Knavesmire Strays, lies the Elmbank Hotel, a unique 19th-century mansion with a rich history.

Elmbank is a beautiful period hotel with a great lobby for taking photos in. The rooms are all excellently furnished allowing you to have a comfortable stay. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom looked stunning! The TV in the rooms are large as well. Make sure to bring a laptop to connect to the TV as they don't have apps installed. The hotel has a good restaurant where you can start your day with a solid English Breakfast. The staff are helpful and willing to accomodate you however they can.
A boutique hotel in the heart of York just a 10-minute walk from York Minster.

Room, location and food were amazing! But the best thing was how friendly and helpful staff was. Rebecca and Laurine helped me out with my computer charger problem 😊. Everyone working in this hotel is just amazing!!

The approach to the property is off a main road (York to Harrogate) and is difficult to see. The drive into the property is narrow and twists and turns through trees, Signs on the door are not that welcoming, particularly an instruction to take off shoes when entering.
Had we been just passing traffic looking for a B&B rather than having already paid, we would have turned around and gone on to somewhere else. The whole property which includes a small lake is very heavily wooded.
Once inside however it is most satisfactory apart from the lack of space for opening luggage.
