Very pleasant room on a separate block at the back of the pub. All usual facilties you would expect & in good working order. Bed, although small, was comfortable. Food available in the restaurant was excellent & reasonablably priced. Overall, it would be good place to overnight or even use as a base to explore the surrounding area.
A charming English manor house close to the A1 road. WiFi is free in public areas and food is served all day.

This little hotel is quant and beautiful - as it was 21 years ago when we had our wedding reception here. The only difference is that now the rooms are no longer a bit moth eaten and dusty around the edges but instead really gorgeous. The renovations are contemporary but very much in keeping with the original features. The stairs are still as squiffy as you’d expect from a building of this age, and it hasn’t lost any of the lovely character.

Ample parking was available. The hosts are helpful, considerate, and lovely people to stay with. There are many small touches throughout the house and the room that made me feel welcome, including fresh cut flowers in the room and in the common areas. The breakfast room and separate lounge are beautifully decorated, a pleasure to sit in and enjoy. Breakfasts are superb, better than most and very flexible with the choices on offer, with home-made jams and honey.

Sean was just brilliant! Great room, very comfortable stay. 🇦🇺
Hamsterley is a pleasant stone-built village. It has a very decent pub with good pub food. This is useful as you need to drive further to find other food outlets. There is a Tesco locally somewhere but we didn't go there. There is no village shop or parish church but a Baptist church and village hall. Sat nav takes you to the social hall not Grove House which is several miles further on inside the forest so beware.

A bit tricky to find, don’t rely on SatNav/phone Maps!

Once in Hamsterley I phoned the owners for further directions, they very kindly drove out to meet us so that we could follow them back to the B&B!
