Hollybush Inn, hotel in Greenhaugh

Located within the heart of the newly appointed Dark Sky Park, the Hollybush Inn is just 7 miles from Kielder Water. The Hollybush Inn offers stylish rooms and a contemporary self-contained apartment....

The facilities were very good but the WiFi went down which was not the fault of the proprietors, it was a BT issue. I enjoyed my stay which is just as well because it was expensive to be honest, at least twice as expensive of where I normally stay in the same area. The food was ok but nothing special in my opinion and again quite expensive. To be fair the room I occupied was the most expensive due to there being no others available and it was lovely. Would I use this place again? Yes if there was no alternative. By the way the staff were very good, excellent in fact. And the locals are great people.

The Pheasant Inn, hotel in Greenhaugh

The award-winning, 4-star Pheasant Inn is nestled in the heart of the Northumberland National Park, 1 mile from Kielder Water.

Room okay, cold on arrival. Beds comfortable, we were an unusual trio I’d imagine, three adults and the bunk bed was too short for my son(6’7”) so I had a bunk and my son and husband used the two twin beds which were very close together. Bathroom gleaming but shower difficult to operate and water cool. Plenty of towels and lovely toiletries. Very limited tea/tisane options . We attended a dark skies event at Kielder Observatory between 11.30pm and 02.30 on a literally freezing cold night and the room was still warm to come back to.

This is a beautiful countryside location and a great base for the many, many attractions across Northumberland. We have stayed in this area multiple times over the last 12 years while visiting Northumberland

This rural hamlet within the Northumberland National Park is the ideal place to recharge and get closer to nature. The nearest village, Bellingham, is only a scenic five-minute drive away and offers a supermarket, bakers, butchers and several places to eat. Walkers can easily reach the heart of Greenhaugh (2.4 miles) where an old inn provides good beer and hot and cold food. Kielder water and forest is an easy 12 minute drive away and provides activities for all tastes and ages. If that isn't enough, it is a 20 minute drive to the Scottish border and to Hadrian's Wall.

Greenhaugh is tiny and you could walk the length of it in 10 minutes or less. The only place to go is the pub/B&B that has a good restaurant. Getting to and from Greenhaugh could be challenging for some drivers due to winding single-track roads for numerous miles. The main benefits of staying at Greenhaugh are being in the middle of the dark skies park to see the stars on a clear night and proximity to Kielder Water and Forest.

Wonderful stay, very friendly hosts, working under challenging circumstances. Glad to see very thorough and strict C-19 routines being followed. Will be back. Food was fabulous! Good beer too... Very handy for Kielder Water, only 10-15 minutes away by car

We stayed at the Holy Bush Inn as we had booked an event at the Kielder Observatory. We were a little concerned initially that we would be driving on B roads all the time - we were - but the roads were excellent and very much better that B roads in other parts of the country. Greenhaugh is just a small village but it is ideally situated for visits to Kielder which is about 20 minutes drive away, Hexham is lovely, you must visit the Abbey and Alnwick, Bambrough etc are all within an hour's drive.

Greenhaugh is a lovely spot in the heart of Northumberland.

Greenhaugh is a lovely spot in the heart of Northumberland. The Holly Bush was exactly what we expected, an old coaching inn with all the quirks you would expect. Staff were friendly and helpful and the music festival was entertaining. Food was good pub grub. Good selection of guns and real ales.
