Parking is expensive and we were disappointed that the garden centre had closed.
Our favourite tea room was still open Baldry’s endless pot of tea with a cheese scone chutney & extra cheese was delicious.

We went in the winter so it was very quiet. If eating out at night it is best to check opening times. We ate in the 1769 Inn, lovey food which is served till 9pm, it has a good atmosphere and friendly staff.

The village is always busy, even in November, a time I have been there, over the last 11 years. Plenty of outdoor 'living' shops, eateries, craft type shops. Carparking is good around the area. Walks start from the village, and has the association to W Wordsworth and Dove Cottage, his home.
Do not miss the smallest of shops near the church, where they make and sell the famous Grasmere Ginger Bread. Warm it slightly to enhance the taste.
Good carparking and a bus route from the centre of the village.

We liked everything about our recent stay. Our classic room at the lodge was superb and had everything you could wish for. The views from the restaurant whilst eating a fabulous breakfast are great and get you in the mood for heading out for the day. All the staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. We stay in Grasmere a lot and will certainly be revisiting this hotel.
If for any reason you don’t want to go out for the day your room and hotel offer plenty of facilities just to relax and unwind.
Phenomenal breakfast. Both continental AND cooked breakfast options. Very good location for walking around all the attractions in Grasmere or up the road to the Swan hotel for a great dinner. Staff were very friendly and always accommodating to requests, for example when I asked them if they could do a small load of laundry for me and even brought it back to my room nice a dry.
The hotel was excellent, clean, quiet and a great location on the edge of Grasmere village. The rooms were very spacious, with the bed being probably the most comfortable hotel bed we have stayed in. Food, both breakfast and dinner was delicious and all the staff very attentive, would highly recommend a stay. Looking forward to our next visit already.
Lovely warm hotel. Furnishings were luxurious and comfortable. Nice fabrics and lovely log fire in reception. The location is ideal in Grasmere. Staff are very attentive and help make your stay seem special
