The village is always busy, even in November, a time I have been there, over the last 11 years. Plenty of outdoor 'living' shops, eateries, craft type shops. Carparking is good around the area. Walks start from the village, and has the association to W Wordsworth and Dove Cottage, his home.
Do not miss the smallest of shops near the church, where they make and sell the famous Grasmere Ginger Bread. Warm it slightly to enhance the taste.
Good carparking and a bus route from the centre of the village.

Small village which is busy in the daytime but quite quiet at night with only a few pubs and restaurants to visit
Lots of walking / hiking routes to do straight out of Grasmere. We did Easedale Tarn which is lovely and Silver How which was classed as easy on Google but certainly wasn't! The walk round Grasmere lake is beautiful

Grasmere has a good selection of independent shops and plenty of cafes for small meals and hotels for larger meals. Good bus connections for Keswick, Ambleside, Coniston and even further afield if required. Plenty of walking routes if needed too.

See reviews by guests who stayed at hotels in Grasmere
Located in the centre of Grasmere, and across the road from the main hotel [which handled the booking and provided meals], this small accommodation only hotel has been relatively recently refurbished to quite a high standard, and the room we had was very spacious with a balcony and good view over the village. It was very adequate for the two of us plus our large dog.
The hotel is beautiful and in a great location for exploring Grasmere on foot. Our room was spacious and well presented and had a terrace overlooking the river, which was such a lovely surprise. The staff were so warm and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely and we really enjoyed sitting outside in the grounds to eat.
Central in Grasmere village. Lovely hotel clean comfortable rooms. Friendly helpful staff. Lovely meals. Ideal just to park up & lots of walks to do either on the flat or fell walking. Fantastic stay definitely be visiting again.
Everything was perfect about our stay at Rothay Garden hotel. From the staff to the rooms. The spa and food, absolutely incredible. I will be highly recommending to anybody who is planning a visit to the lake District.
