The Little Inn at Grasmere, hotel in Grasmere

Set in Grasmere, 12 km from Windermere, The Little Inn at Grasmere features a terrace and views of the mountains.

The staff at the bar and in the restaurant were brilliant, always cheerful, friendly and helpful. Our room was a great size and had comfortable armchairs too. Cosy and quiet with a feeling of privacy which was nicer than the main hotel. The public rooms in the main hotel were comfortable and enjoyable to be in after dinner or breakfast.

Grasmere is a wonderful quaint little village. I would recommend a visit, any time of the year. There are many nice places to eat and drink and plenty of lovely places to visit. The gingerbread cottage is a must.

The village is always busy, even in November, a time I have been there, over the last 11 years. Plenty of outdoor 'living' shops, eateries, craft type shops. Carparking is good around the area. Walks start from the village, and has the association to W Wordsworth and Dove Cottage, his home. Do not miss the smallest of shops near the church, where they make and sell the famous Grasmere Ginger Bread. Warm it slightly to enhance the taste. Good carparking and a bus route from the centre of the village.

Grasmere is an ideal base for visiting the Lake District.

Grasmere is an ideal base for visiting the Lake District. The village itself is picturesque with plenty of amenities for eating out or just enjoying a coffee or tea in the many cafes. The church, church yard and the Gingerbread shop are musts if you're visiting Grasmere.

Small village which is busy in the daytime but quite quiet at night with only a few pubs and restaurants to visit Lots of walking / hiking routes to do straight out of Grasmere. We did Easedale Tarn which is lovely and Silver How which was classed as easy on Google but certainly wasn't! The walk round Grasmere lake is beautiful

Grasmere has a good selection of independent shops and plenty of cafes for small meals and hotels for larger meals. Good bus connections for Keswick, Ambleside, Coniston and even further afield if required. Plenty of walking routes if needed too.

Grasmere is a lovely little village and mainly car free, great for flat and hilly walks. Has a great go easy feel to it. Highly recommended to stay or visit from Ambleside. Public buses (hourly) to Ambleside and Keswick. We ate at The Grand and the food was lovely.
