Literally. Everything. From the warm welcome and ambience to the incredibly beautiful rooms - it was impeccable. The food, both dinner and breakfast were insane. Highly recommend the Tarte Tatin - I'd go back just for this! I honestly cannot recommend Duncombe Arms enough, I wanted to sign up to become a live in resident. I didnt want to leave. I will definitely be back, and will be recommending to anyone and everyone!

Travelling for Alton Towers this was a lovely little stop for the night before moving on to Alton.
Nice small compact room and lovely cosy little bar area for evening meal and a few drinks.
The food in the bar area was exceptional, though check the timings, the bar was only open from 7pm for food, don't know if that's normal.

This was a lovely converted rail carriage set in beautiful countryside. Hosts were very helpful with directions and information about key collection. Amenities excellent. Obviously a railway carriage is quite small but it was very well designed and our little family of four was able to fit comfortably inside.
It was a lovely, idyllic place where you can relax.
It was a lovely, idyllic place where you can relax. You need a car to travel around Foxt. However, you can reach Alton Towers easily. It is only 20 minutes away by car. This is an ideal place for walking.

We ate at the nearest Toby Carvery one night and we went into Cheadle the following evening to the local Asda to buy supplies.
The area of Foxt is beautiful and easy to get around. We will definitely return to Foxt and the Shawgate Guest House again.
We were visiting Alton towers. The hotel was great location, clean and everything we needed with two kids (2 & 6) they were comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was great and set us up for the day. Really close so only 25 minutes travel to and from park which is exactly what we wanted. When we go again we will stay here
