New Inn Hotel, hotel in Fairford

Ideally situated on the banks of the River Thames in the market town of Lechlade-on-Thames, this characteristic 17th century coaching inn blends 250 years of hospitality with state-of-the New Inn p...

This was an old inn, comfortable and easy-going but not smart. Our room (first-floor double) was well lit and had a nice view of the curving high street, Good parking at the back, through an arch. Lechlade is a small market town on the upper Thames, with an 18th-century bridge. The long-distance Thames footpath runs past. Only a few miles away (walking distance for the fit) there is a National Trust house, Buscot Park, and also Kelmscott, once the home of William Morris, also often open to the public. In Buscot church there are several stained-glass windows by his friend and artistic associate, Burne-Jones.

We were moved from the room we booked due to a water leak.

We were moved from the room we booked due to a water leak. The room we were moved too was lovely with a huge bathroom to include a double shower and roll top bath. The staff were all very pleasant and happy to help. Breakfast was included in our booking and was very nice. We booked a table for our evening meal which again was a lovely position and the food was very nice although we couldn’t manage a pudding. A beautiful character property.

Fairford was our base for 3 nights from which it was ideal to tour the Cotswolds. We should have booked a longer stay as 4 days isn't enough as there are so many lovely places to visit. We ate every evening in The Bull Hotel and the food was very good.

Fairford is a gem in the Cotswolds.

Fairford is a gem in the Cotswolds. St Marys Church is a fabulous place to visit with a very interesting history. There are lovely walks in the town through an area by the river leading to some small lakes. The town is so beautiful as the houses are so well conserved and maintained. There is a really good coffee shop and Book and Art shop. It is a nice quiet place to spend a night or two.

Fantastic little town, with everything you could possibly need - pubs, takeaways, coffee shops, butcher, supermarket. The local walks are fantastic and the location is perfect to explore the Cotswolds. Everyone we met was very friendly.

Fabulous. Had everything you could want.

Fabulous. Had everything you could want. Plenty of beautiful walks on the doorstep and further afield. Highly recommend the Colosseo Italian Restaurant, very attentive waiters, food was great and the house red was very good indeed. Great prices too. Local cafes, with their own take on spacialist food, 7a for their amazing brownies and great coffee. Local fishing lakes or the river for Carp and trout respectively. If I could move there I would :)
