The location is perfect for walking around Exmoor next to the iconic Tarr steps, The room had all the necessary requirements and even though the windows were a little draughty and the wind was cold the central heating kept the room comfortable. Breakfast was good and the restaurant food is delicious, All the staff were so accommodating and helpful. Lovely place to stay.

In the middle of Exmoor country park so the village was remote ..Because of the wet weather , i went out in the car to get to places of interest..Drier days, and if I had found the walking routes ,would probably of used them ..Fields upon fields and countryside around

The staff especially at breakfast was excellent although he seemed to be overworked and desperately needed some assistance.
The information on booking .Com stated there was a refrigerator in the room but there wasn’t and when we asked at check in we were told our room doesn’t have one although when I booked it said it did the hotel did nothing to try and rectify this the problem arising was it was a particular hot few days.

I have known, and loved, Exford for more than 70 years. Hearing the clippers-clop of horses' hooves and seeing the Exmoor Stores reopened and flourishing was splendid. Church Hill still seems strep to walk up...

Did not have time to look around Exford as we only booked for one night. We were booked onto a special stargazing event, which was excellent.
However the drive over the moor from Lynton was stunning.
Exford is situated in an excellent part of the moor for exploring and Exford appeared to be a lovely village to walk around, with two pubs and village shops.
Horse riding available too.
Would reconmmend Exford for a place to stay for either a long weekend or for a week.

Exford is a beautiful, rural village in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. It has everything you need with a store/post office, two lovely pubs, a shop and a tearooms. If you want peace and quiet within a beautiful setting, Exford is beautiful
A delightful cottage full of the wonderful idiosyncrasies of the period. Scrupulous clean and very nicely decorated, our room was large and bright. A full cooked breakfast to start your day and the hostess even went the extra mile by getting black pudding in when I mentioned I liked it. A mine of information, Joan was always willing to give advice and answer our questions.
Right in the middle of Exmoor with 2 good pubs within walking distance it's an ideal place for a mid week break. We thoroughly recommend it.
I wish, I could have stayed longer in this lovely bed and breakfast. The historical estate, which is renovated with a lot of love for details, is telling stories. The big and comfy rooms and the blooming garden and the terrace, overlooking it, are fantasic. Breakfast tasted like in a star kitchen. Parking is easy. A short walk away along the Exe-river is the Crown Hotel Exmoor, which is a terrific and cosy place for the evening with excellent food and nice people!
Another great experience at the Crown. The owners obviously know how to run a hotel and have struck a very good balance between country Inn and genuine hotel. The King room we had was large with a very large ensuite
From pulling onto the drive to when we pulled out of the drive the whole experience was 5* - exceptional. Superb hosts. Hotel itself is fabulously presented. Bedroom 5*. Breakfast was explemplary
Location was excellent.
Evening meal was excellent - far better standard/ menu/ service than your 'average' country hotel.
Friendly staff.
Lots of hot water.
Comfortable bed (if small)
Lovely property in the heart of an Exmoor village. Had everything we needed. Comfy bed, lovely bathroom and comfortable living room. Our host was great and very sccommodating.
Lovely lovely hosts nothing was too much trouble even booking a table for me at the local pub .super clean accommodation. Very comfortable bed would recommend to anyone
I would certainly recommend Monks Cleeve . Hospitality and accommodation was above expectation and the breakfast was the best we have had for a long time . Excellent !!!!
