HIGHFIELD, hotel in Cranswick

Situated in Great Driffield, 33 km from The Spa Scarborough, HIGHFIELD features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

Highfield was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. Everything was perfect from the welcome received, our room, cleanliness and comfort, and the view from it, to the delicious breakfast served in an amazing period dining room. All the staff/owners we spoke to were very friendly and we will most certainly return when next in the area. Staying at the Highfield was quite a unique experience, in a very good way.

The Star Inn, hotel in Cranswick

Set in North Dalton, 36 km from York Minster, The Star Inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

The inn was a very warm welcoming place to stay in a quiet and small village in East Yorkshire, the staff were all exceptionally helpful, but the location was still not far from my appointments on either day. My room was very well presented, clean and nicely appointed. The evening meal was excellent and very generous portions.

Enjoyable stay at Burton Lodge which is on the edge of the village next to a golf course. The staff were very friendly and had good knowledge of the local area. There is a comfortable lounge with an honesty bar. The room was spotless, well equiped and with a comfortable bed. I will return later in year when next in the area.

Wolds Village Hotel, hotel in Cranswick

Situated just 5 minutes’ walk from Bainton, Wolds Village Hotel boasts Grade II listed buildings with a restaurant and a tearoom. This family run farmstead offers free Wi-Fi and is 27 miles from York....

The room was comfortable, perhaps a little too warm even after turning down the thermostat. The meals were really good, we had a meal in the evening which was lovely and the full English breakfast was plentiful.

The room was spacious, clean and had all you'd need to stay, Inc a hair dryer. However, breakfast very boring and no healthy options at all. Even water was not out and had to be asked for (Surprising as it's a pub too) Beer garden and outdoor pub was great, but only open on Saturday with shocking speaker system. WiFi almost none existent in rooms and poor elsewhere. Noisy from staff arrival at 6am and lots of door bangs and large artic lorries passing my bedroom from 7am onwards. Free carpark, not lit, and used for storage of 'stuff' so watch out for the metal, nails and builders bits. Stay for a night and get a good early start and you'll love it. Spar right next door and superb chippy down the road. 13 miles to Bridlington, 30 miles to Whitby and great local bird watching along the cliffs.

We actually live in the village and due to lack of space, we booked the cottage for our family, as we were celebrating our golden wedding anniversary. The cottage is well placed for Beverly, Hull & York and the Wolds and is well equipped and beautifully presented. Wine was left for our guests as well as coffee, tea, sugar etc. A wonderful place to stay!

The Village is beautiful, with a huge Village Green at its centre. It has everything, butchers general groceries, post office and off Licence, Pub, Chinese Takeaway, Fish and Chips a spectacular farm shop with cafe, it even has its own Train Station. Trains go to Beverly, Driffield or to the Yorkshire coast and further afield. Puddle Duck Cottage over looks the Village Green and Duck pond, the location is excellent, it’s just a short drive into Driffield or Beverley, alternatively you can take the train. It’s a great location and one that I would highly recommend for work or pleasure.
