The Poppy House, hotel in Clun

Situated in Bishops Castle, 10 km from Clun Castle and 18 km from Stokesay Castle, The Poppy House features accommodation with free WiFi in a historic building.

Perfect easy location (a stone's throw from the marvellous Poetry Pharmacy!), very cosy room and surprisingly quiet (the storm winds were louder than the town hall clock!). Really comfy bed. Nice touch to find a bottle of fresh milk in a little fridge in the room; with kettle & teabags so you can make yourself a cuppa. Breakfast was extra, but very reasonable and most delicious - with excellent coffee. Host sent information for entrance keypad, all really smooth and easy. All round a very lovely place to stay.

HOBLEY House Holiday, hotel in Clun

HOBLEY House Holiday, a property with barbecue facilities, is set in Craven Arms, 23 km from Dolforwyn Castle, 27 km from Stokesay Castle, as well as 33 km from Wigmore Castle.

Absolutely beautiful location surrounded by fields and farm animals. Loved waking up to the sound of birds and sheep. The fire stove keeps the place very toasty. The farm breakfast is very nice, and the owner, Trevor, was lovely to chat to. Great get away for some peace and quiet. We loved the decor inside the place and the fairy lights. It was very relaxing to sit on the picnic bench and watch the sun rise in the morning. A couple of blankets were kindly provided to wrap up in when it's a bit colder out on the decking. Tea, coffee, and milk provided. We also enjoyed watching the lambs playing in the field. Prior to arriving, the owners were kind enough to send us specific directions and some ideas of what to do in the area on our visit.

The Garden Room, hotel in Clun

Boasting garden views, The Garden Room features accommodation with a garden and a balcony, around 38 km from Elan Valley. Guests can benefit from a patio and a picnic area.

The location in Knighton was perfect. A 10 min walk from the station and in the centre of town. A number of good places to eat and drink - even on a Monday which is rare in these rural places. The accommodation had everything you needed and was very cosy and comfortable. We will certainly book again when next in the area. Knighton is a great area for walking.

A Lovely little village on the Welsh border. Set in a beautiful rural setting. Eating in one of the local pubs which was just round the corner, the other pub was not doing any food during my stay but both have loads of charm.

Clun is small enough to wander around but extends further than you originally think and has plenty going on. The castle ruin is a highlight, but so are the pubs and cafes too. Very easy to unwind and to switch off for a few days. The locals were extremely friendly and welcoming too. The walks around Clun are stunning. Shropshire at it's best.

An authentic Shropshire/Rural town set in very pretty countryside. It is not as twee and monied as Ludlow so facilities are limited in terms of shopping and eating out but both the pubs are friendly and both serve very well kept local ales. There is also a charming little tea room.

Large village in beautiful countryside, it has a couple of Tea Rooms a old stone bridge over the river. the area is quite picturesque and is typical of an english / Welsh border area. Our accommodation offered a restaurant which offered a not to large menu and a 'specials board'.
