The George Hotel, Amesbury, Wiltshire, hotel in Cholderton

Situated in Amesbury, in scenic Wiltshire, The George Hotel, Amesbury, Wiltshire is a 5-minute drive from Stonehenge.

We had a really good night here. The parking available is great, they were very accommodating to our special requests. We requested a second duvet and they brought another big one. That made for quite a lot of duvet in the bed but it was extremely cozy. It was generally clean and inviting tho. They had glutenfree and vegetarian options for breakfast, something we anticipated would be a bit tricky. Overall I really recommend it.

Stonehenge Inn & Shepherd's Huts, hotel in Cholderton

One of the closest inns to the World Heritage Site of Stonehenge, the Stonehenge Inn & Shepherd Huts has a great value 2 for £20 restaurant and a garden area.

I don't remember what I wrote last visit in 2020, but the quality is still there. The room I had felt like it was half a floor with 3 single beds and a double bed. The agony of choice. Breakfast costs extra, but the buffet is well stocked. AND...you can also order something here around the clock. For example, burgers and hot dogs with fries. Wifi works well. In total: Very good price/performance ratio. Good location, easy to park. Stonehenge nearby, but also has its own miniature version.

The staff was absolutely the best. Very friendly and accommodating. Lex, Shannon and Jason were delightful and extremely helpful. The breakfast was outstanding and I am now a fan of the English breakfast! The place was charming and quiet. It gave me the feel of an old style cottage in the English country side. Whenever I come to Salisbury I will be staying here. The pricing makes this place a great value and worth it for sure.

When I initially looked at this place I was a bit hesitant because it is very close to the motorway but it was on our way and we had a long trip with long hours on the road so we decided to book it anyway. When we arrived we has such a pleasant surprise! There is a beautiful garden, the whole hotel has a very nice decor and most importantly it was incredibly quiet! I loved the room decor and the staff was very helpful.

Staff were all friendly and helpful. I had an early start on the Saturday before breakfast so I was provided with a take away bag which was full of food which was much appreciated. Room was comfy and the hotel quiet I ate in the hotel both nights and the food was good on both occasions Location was ideal for Thruxton Motor circuit which was my purpose for staying.

Everything was nice. The room is spatious and the bed was pretty comfortable. We had a bath tub, which was nice. The view from the room was nice as well. There is a nice domain in the back of the hotel which you can walk and have a nice nature experience. The continental breakfast is pretty diverse and there were a lot of option which you could have choose from.

When I arrived I had to call the number on the door to be let in. There was no hot water or heating until the evening. Gardens and room was a little tatty. Lock on room door didn't work very well. Had to turn it many times before it would lock or unlock. Shower not what I'd expect for a 4* hotel. Sealed units on windows broken so couldn't see out.

The hotel is lovely. And quiet despite them being fully booked. The room was clean and very warm. We had an issue with the shower - it was too hot and couldn’t turn it down, but this was fixed in minutes. The staff were lovely - particularly Amber.
