A lovely hotel in stunning grounds, well located for York, Beningbrough Hall and Fountains Abbey / Studley Royal. Staff were pleasant and attentive, hotel has a lovely terrace with lawn games including Croquet which we enjoyed . Food was delicious and the long hours for breakfast were much appreciated.

    Perfect !

Perfect ! Staff so friendly and helpful , scenery, facilities , room , breakfast and elements restaurant both good . We will be back .. perfect spot to explore North Yorkshire from .- York , Helmsley, castle Howard to name a few .. Beautiful surroundings . Can’t wait to return when the new pool is complete . Lovely touch .. honesty bar in library area ! Only very slight negative was the very very soft pillows - although good quality - not for us - but cannot fault anything else .

Make sure you get a room with view over the grounds and not with a noisy kitchen fan a couple of feet away that wakes you up at night. Had two diners booked but after first one cancelled and ate in York instead. We would have gone to a local pub but no food available locally on a Monday night. Make sure facilities are open if staying in 2022 as new Spa being built and Golf course being extended to 18 holes. Would work as a corporate away location

I been traveling around the world for over 20 years, and this place was the best place I have ever been. So pretty surrounding and I loved the short walking around the hotel it was just amazing. I will definitely return. Thank you so much for keeping the hotel so clean, by the way, the breakfast was amazing.

We were left completely disappointed with our stay at Aldwark. On arrival we struggled to find the car park as there were no lights. There was a lot of building work going on and no signage to the car park. We then had to take our small child and luggage through the dark to the hotel. When we arrived at reception the staff were abrupt and unhelpful. Telling us that the Kitchen and Spa were closed. We didn’t ask about these things or needed to know but we felt as though we were being told off. The room was lovely, it was spacious, clean and comfortable. The toiletries were very good quality and the bathroom was clean. Breakfast was another let down. The waiter got our drinks wrong, twice and then gave us toast that was so burnt it was inedible. When we asked for more we received two pieces for three of us. We asked for further toast and it never arrived. The breakfast menu was very limited and most things require a supplement, which we were very disappointed to see when we’ve paid so much to stay. My daughter ordered pancakes which were so stale we couldn’t cut them! She gave up with breakfast and just had juice. We were going to use the pool and facilities for a longer stay, but we decided just to go home as we all felt flat and disappointed. On check out the staff were again rude and we just couldn’t wait to leave. A complete disappointment to what should have been a lovely treat.

Beautiful hotel set in fabulous surroundings and fantastic views of the countryside and river. Friendly, helpful staff and a nice spa. We did have some treatments which were lovely and relaxing, especially using ESPA products being a real bonus. The main restaurant had a fab decor where a fantastic breakfast was served with a great range of choices and the evening meal was superb. Overall a lovely relaxing weekend and will definitely return.

The hotel has had a recent refurbishment and it is excellent! Beautiful rooms with the best bathroom I’ve ever used in a hotel. Restaurant and facilities were superb. The hotel is due to have even more upgrades so when this is finished I’m definitely coming back! If you book a treatment make sure you ask for Holly for your massage!
