Beautiful place, great for families.
Beautiful place, great for families. Leave the car in one of the car parks on the periphery of town and enjoy easy cycles and fresh air! We didn’t use our car again once the bikes were hired for the week. We went out of season, can imagine the cycling gets a bit manic in high season.

The overall ambiance is superb. Good restaurants.
The overall ambiance is superb. Good restaurants. Very busy during the day.
Not the cheapest on Ile de Re and certainly not in France. Bridge toll is high.
Weather can be very fickle..............
We love it and the rest of the island.
Parking is very expensive but parking at the beach less than a mile to walk back is free.

Saint Martin de Re is worth visiting and there lovely fish restaurants, shops and possibly to go on cruises.
But I would recommend anyone not to stay at La Maison Douce as I had a terrible experience.
Book hotel in advance as it gets very busy until end of September.

Saint-Martin de Re is a charming village on Ile de Re.
Saint-Martin de Re is a charming village on Ile de Re. Great restaurants, wonderful bike paths, narrow streets that beckon you to explore. It’s status as one of France’s most beautiful villages is well -deserved! Don’t miss LaMartiniere, a family-run ice cream shop on the harbor in St. Martin and also by the Phare des Balleins.

The capital of this delightful island off La Rochelle (connected by a fine bridge), busy in high season, but with a super market and some very good shops and restaurants of great variety. Charming and quieter back streets, and a great base for cycling around the island.

A vibrant port area on the Island, where the larger ships dock in the harbour. Full of good bars and restaurants. Many people come into town for the evening and promenade around the harbour. There is a great choice of restaurants, from easy-going to high-class. It's a great place to have a very good evening of food, drink and "people watching".

We had a great stay at Le Secret. Jerome was very friendly and helpful. Le Secret is beautifuly restored and styled/ decorated with tastful furniture and objects. Great location near all the restaurants and shops but at the same time a quiet and serene atmosphere in the hotel, a nice little garden with a pool. Make sure to check out the tower at the top of the building for a nice view.
The breakfast is phenomenal! It’s buffet style with meats, cheeses, fruit, yoghurt, bread, pastries, juices, meusli and granola, coffee and tea.
For us, the hotel is perfectly situated - it’s an easy 3-4 block walk to the harbor and the pedestrian shopping street, yet the hotel itself is in a quiet area. It’s the best of both worlds!
Wonderful, spacious and full of character. Elodie the manager was prompt and friendly. Great location near the harbor but it is very quiet - the only thing I heard at night were gulls. The bathroom was as what you’d expect to find in a much more expensive hotel. Nice bath products.
A super kind and gentle reception lady that helped us a lot with the logistics of our bicycle tour. The location is without comparison : step outside of the hotel right into the lively port scene with shops, restaurants and cafés. Great hub for biking tours, car parking nearby.
The pool was good for our kids, if a bit smaller than I expected. But overall the room we were given wasn't what I had booked, the hotel obligingly moved us to a new room but overall the hotel was as clean or comfy as I would've expected.
A good hotel in the centre of St Martin with private parking, We only stayed for 1 night and every thing was fine. We would make a comment that the check in staff were particularly friendly polite and welcoming
Location was great, free bike storage a few streets away was very secure- lots of codes and keys to get into hotel, room and bike storage. Very clean room with amazing views. Staff were very nice.
