Isabelle the owner was very warm and welcoming. When we arrived on our motorbikes, she came out to advise us to park our bikes in a different part of the parking area which wasn’t visible from the street. We were very happy with her advice and hospitality.
We had three rooms which were arranged around a courtyard area. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We all agreed that the beds were very comfortable. The hotel is located in a quiet area and it is within easy walking distance of the old town of Parthenay. The hotel has a restaurant for evening meals. As we only stayed for one night we wanted to walk into town to explore. So, we didn’t get a chance to try the evening meals. When we got back from our walk we sat on the terrace overlooking the pool to enjoy a couple of drinks from the hotel bar. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely stylish, clean and spacious room at the top of the house with friendly, relaxed hosts. Very comfortable and quiet.
A plentiful breakfast was served at a large table in the breakfast room.
Our bicycles were safely stored in a garage.

Spotless accommodation , good location, ideal for looking around the old town and the surrounding area. It was so disappointing to find so many empty and derelict shops and buildings, it takes a lot away from what the location could be.

The property is in the centre of the medieval part of Parthenay, which should not be missed. It felt as if we had been taken back hundreds of years, and the only thing that was missing were knights on horseback riding down the street. Great bar just down the road, wonderful hostess Veronique who provided safe storage of two bikes, ice cold bottle of water on arrival, and a comprehensive but not intrusive demonstration of the property facilities. We felt privileged to have been able the experience of staying her for a night

We liked the hosts very much. They were very friendly and accommodating and live downstairs. Furthermore the house - very clean - had some “blasts from the pasts” like the very cheesy toilet or the kitchen. It put a smile on our faces. Would definitely go back if ever we are anywhere nearby.
Parthenay is a much underestimated destination.
It is distinctively French in everyway and there are very few allowances made to languages other than French.
However, it remains its French identity entirely and has not succumbed to over commercialization. The medieval sector is totally unspoilt and authentic .Parthenay is very much comparable to York in England in miniature or Guimaràes in Portugal.

Ok for one evening stay.
I stayed for two weeks on business trip and had to get away the weekend, a boring place to be .
The fact that it was January didn’t help, everything looks grey and miserable.
The town is generally run down.
Some nice small village’s to visit but how many chateau and churches can you stare at.
Simply not for me .

Ideally situated on the ring road, with out-of-sight parking. Quiet on the non-road side , so not disturbed by traffic noise. Separate heater to warm the room efficiently. Room and communal areas were spotless. Breakfast much better than many hotels. Room size was so much better than budget hotels like Premiere Classe, F1 or Ibis budget.
Exceptionnal stopover in Parthenay. We didn't think much good about the city beside its medieval centre which was strangely calm but the stay at Château des plans in itself made it worthy. Vast and clean appartment in an old castle. We wished we had booked for longer.
