A nice little town with a small grassed area on front of cafes and bars giving it a spacious feel. Many restaurants to choose from as well as local amenity shops. Cinema in the centre. Parking along the roadside free in many places. Pleasant to walk around the many small winding streets. Train station in town too. Niort is about 50 mins drive so nice to go into but better to drive away from the busyness of a tourist area and stay in Niort.

We travelled to Niort for the Jazz festival.
We travelled to Niort for the Jazz festival. We had a super evening with great music in the warm summer weather. Before that we had dinner at Le comptoir du Siam, a great Thai restaurant in the centre of Niort.
Niort has lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. There is a large CGR cinema which often has VO films (Version Originale), vital for English speakers whose French isn't fluent. There is a large pedestrian area in the centre which makes it easy to wander around. I recommend a visit!

Forgot to mention night Melissa and daytime Melissa, both exceptional. Daytime Melissa, the hotel manager went above and beyond duty to accommodate my every need, and I had a ton. Incredibly grateful. Will return every chance I have.

We stayed here for one night to break our journey by car to Spain. We chose the hotel because it was en route and dog friendly. We had a delicious evening meal and found the young lady who helped serve us “Lucy” very helpful and friendly.
It was very reassuring to speak to someone in English as the French we learned at school was a very long time ago.
We were very pleased to find a large car park at the hotel so near the centre of the town.
Will definitely stay here again if we drive to Spain again.

I only stayed here because it was a rendezvous point for a birdwatching trip, but I would highly recommend it for a 2 day stay. It has 3 beautiful churches, a city centre that is easy to navigate, other attractions such as the Dungeon and an excellent visitor centre.
It was lovely to be away from the big crowds nearer the coast and this city also has great shopping and window shopping.
The Mercure Niort is near the centre of town in it's own small park and in a quiet district. Almost all hotel restaurants in France are closed on Sunday evening. We found a less than satisfactory Japanese/Thai restaurant about 10 minutes walk away that proved more or less satisfactory. The rooms in Mercure Hotels are good and breakfasts in this one exceptional. We didn't make use of the swimming pool as it appeared closed for most of the time during our overnight stay.
Good location to walk into town and near to good restaurants. The room was bigger than expected, staff were super friendly and spoke good English and was very knowledgeable. As we left the young man offered us hot drinks to take away which was a welcomed surprise! Parking was good, breakfast was a good variety, bathroom had everything you needed and beds were comfy enough, heating was on which was nice to walk into a warm room.
The hosts are so welcoming and accommodating, they were very kind and we really enjoyed chatting with them. We didn't want to leave!
The house is just beautiful, and the room was comfortable and large. Everything was very clean, and the bedding was very comfortable.
The breakfast was healthy and delicious, the perfect way to start the day. If we ever have a chance to go back to Niort we will definitely stay here!
Beautiful place. Attention to details.Enchanting stay.comfortable beds, bedding. Got help to carry my luggage upstairs. The owners of this beautiful house are eager to help and please you.Lovely breakfast. Niort is a really nice little town to discover. The place actually looks better than the photos.
The property was very clean and tidy. The pool was lovely . Lionel and Sandrine were exceptional host, very attentive and always on hand if anything was needed. The property is only a short drive/ cycle from Niort so easy to go for an evening meal.
Check in was good and informative. Its not always easy to find an open restaurant on Mondays in France and the reception was very helpful. Room was comfortable but tea and coffee was very sparse and no milk.
The hotel and rooms were very clean with a nice modern bath. The owners were happy to see their first cyclists of the season. At breakfast, we were offered more coffee than we could drink.
Recently refurbished and so exceeded the usual Ibis standard. Check in staff friendly. A few places to eat nearby on the industrial estate. Lots of parking.
