Loved the location, just short walk to slopes on skis.
Loved the facilities, especially restaurant, bar and access to ski hire within hotel.
All staff extremely helpful and would definitely recommend this hotel to others and stay again if I returned to Flaine

Very funky place! The attention to detail is amazing. The karaoke was good fun, never done that before. Wonderful cocktails .
We had two interconnected rooms which gave us a great space.
Location is spot on. The town was a little quiet but it’s very close to the end of the season.

Easy access and well located for many ski resorts just off the main Italy to France motorway. Rooms were comfortable. Parking was free. The restaurant was good as was the breakfast. Friendly staff and owner run feel. Really enjoyable stay.

Flaine is excellent for skiing, especially for beginners.
Flaine is excellent for skiing, especially for beginners. It is high so you are relatively guaranteed snow, when lower resorts are still green. Although it is pretty ugly, it is purpose built so everything is well set up for families or beginners to commence their skiing journey

We have visited Flaine many times over the years, and despite the brutalist concrete architecture we have always felt the resort has a warm and cosy vibe. It is perfect for mixed ability groups, with virtually all the mountain restaurants easy to get to - and it is a good place to learn (several members of our family took to skis or boards for the first time there).
The Flaine pistes are pretty easy to navigate (not too much peering at maps and wondering where you are), and if you fancy a change of scenery and some tree-lined runs then if you have the Grand Massif pass you can ski down to Les Carroz or Samoens.
The transfer time is perfect too: about 1hr 15 from Geneva so great if you are planning a short break or long weekend.

Lovely Ski Resort.
Lovely Ski Resort. Great variety of ski runs and pistes were groomed overnight. We stayed in Flaine Forum at Residence Alhena which was superb with easy access to the pistes. Great restaurants on the mountain as well as at Flaine Forum. Flew to Geneva and transfer time was about 1 Hour and 30 minutes. We prefer short transfers as a family especially when you are travelling with young children.

Far away from the hustle and bustle, Flaine offers a lot for the avid hiker and winter sports enthusiast. In addition to the somewhat more popular Chamonix, Flaine, Les Carroz and Arâches-la-Frasse offer a range of possibilities. From small, beautiful shops with local specialties, to bakers and butchers, restaurants, bars and rental of bicycles and skis. With the mountains at your feet, you imagine yourself in an oasis of peace.

Unless you love brutal concrete architecture then you will find Flaine ugly - you need to look beyond the buildings!
What has drawn us back over the years is convenience of the resort, the range of slopes, and the proximity to Geneva airport. Whenever we are in a mixed ski group (one of our party was a complete beginner), it is hard to find a better base. The variety of slopes meant that all of us were able to enjoy the ski-ing yet easily meet up for drinks or lunch on the slope as Flaine is so easy to navigate and has slopes for everyone.
Having self-catered in the past we booked rooms at the Totem Hotel this time - and absolutely loved it! Not sure we will return to an apartment after having been spoilt on this trip.
We might go for a palette-cleansing few days to a pretty Austrian resort next year (and probably moan about having to catch a bus or use t-bar lifts)......but I'm sure we will be back to Flaine at some point!

Flaine was great for our family ski holiday.
Flaine was great for our family ski holiday. Plenty of lovely blue slopes - perfect for our ability. Lots of cafes and restaurants at the foot of the mountain and places to refresh on the slopes. Lifts hardly had queues. Our hotel had half board so we didnt eat out much, other than refreshments. The resort is small, but has enough to entertain for the week. Lots of ski school options, easy to walk around and everyone seemed really friendly.
The location was great. Could ski right up to the boot room door at the end of the day. On a morning we could ski to several lifts from the hotel, which were all within view and easy accessible.
The spa was lovely and a welcome relief at the end of a hard day skiing. It had a steam room, sauna, Nordic cold bath, jacuzzi and sensory showers.
The hotel had a very nice restaurant and there are several restaurants nearby.
Our apartment was very tasteful and spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable.
Location is the best of all. Ski in and out, no need to carry ski gear as ski locker is provided. It’s also super close to ski schools (ESF, ESI), ski gear rental, restaurants and supermarkets, making our stay easier. There is also a farmer’s market nearby once a week- need to check the program that they give for events. Staff is friendly and helpful. It’s got a hammam & sauna and bread delivery every morning.
rooms are really nice, water kettle, coffee machine, separate sitting area from beds.
pool was nice, kids enjoyed it!
central heating in the rooms, with 2 thermometers.
location is great for proximity to ski hill.
no problem for staff to hold our bags in secure room while we skied after checkout.
restaurants were excellent as well.

Nice view of the mountains from the appartment. Easy to get around, decent ski lockers, and indoor parking (extra fee). No need to use your car anymore after you arrive. Note this is not ski in and ski out though - there is a walk up to the 'Gerets' ski-lift, or a bus. All very doable, but you cannot ski in and out of the appartment.
Hotel Totem was in an excellent location in Flaine - close to the lifts and the bars/restaurants. We were on half board, which I would recommend. The food was varied, well prepared and presented. The staff were super friendly and a key asset for the hotel - always smiling and nothing was too much trouble.
Great ski-in and out facilities; comfortable rooms; nice restaurant on-site. Close enough to walk in to main part of Flaine and free courtesy shuttle to avoid the uphill walk back. Two bed apartment was ample room for our family of 5 (3 teenage boys). Easter offered great value compared to other peak ski periods.
The location was great, right on the piste and easily accessible to Flaine Forum via a lift. We had a 6 person apartment for 4 adults, which was a good size for us, but might have been a squeeze for 6.
Also the water pressure was great, and unlike the pool, was always hot!
the facilities were lovely. we had a steam & cold plunge pool 2 -3 sessions every day after skiing which was amazing. foor was great although not cheap. avoid the restaurant food at the top of the main lift Planiere. the food was awful but great for a drink
Excellent location. Fab little first floor apartment with everything you could need. Lots of storage. Really convenient for ski lifts and passenger lift down to Flaine Forum. Spar shop, ski hire and Boulangerie 5 mins walk.
Amazing views from balcony.
Its nice place to stay for hiking in Flaine area. Shops, cafes and restaraunts are near by, parking is on a steep hill above hotel (but, hey, you are here for hiking). Room is very good, has everything you need and nice mountain view.
Very pretty chalet in a purpose built community above Flaine. Easy buses to the main lifts. Property was spacious with everything you'd need. Useful shop and restaurant next door. A 24/7 pizza vending machine was great! Recommended.
perfect location for us -ski in ski out was a bonus - Spa Facilities were great - very good restaurant in building and staff very friendly plus 2-5 min walk to other good restaurants .
