The location was idyllic - like being in the countryside but only 10 minutes' walk into Autun. And a few minutes to the Temple across fields by the stream. Beautiful and welcoming. We were given a lovely spacious room. Excellent dinner in the lovely garden which was perfectly cooked and extraordinarily good value!

Cathedral is great. The roman ruins are pretty good. The town is wonderful to walk around in. In the evening everyone was gone and the streets were quiet and wonderful. The old town is just what you would think old France was like. We only explored half of it, so we are coming back on a future trip!

This city surprised us with the amount and quality of its monuments and history. Do not miss the museum! Incredible works of art from the Roman era, medieval, renaissance, and more.
Parking can be a challenge in Autun. So leave the car if you can.
Also, don't miss the Morvan region and Bibracte.
This was a magical experience to stay here. The hotel sits on top of the tallest hill in Autun next to the Cathedral de Lazare, one of the oldest cathedrals in France 🇫🇷 built in the 12th century. The hotel is actually one of,the buildings that was part of the diocese and even has vestiges dating from Gallo-Roman times. The hosts are charming and welcoming and have decorated the spacious elegant rooms with antique furniture and beautiful art. The views of,Autum are breathtaking.
Good hotel for a one-night stay when travelling. Easy to find, parking in front of the house, old town with restaurants, shopping and Cathedral (worth to visit) in walking distance (10-15 min). Newly renovated rooms, nice colors and fittings, quite stylish; effective airconditioning and good windows (effective noise reduction from rather busy road). Staff is very friendly. Nice breakfast with a variety of fresh cakes, fruit, meat and cheese and more at a very reasonable price.
Old Autun high up by cathedral, very picturesque and easy walking distance to middle of town (Champ de Mars). Clever conversion. Heating/ air conditioning explained and easy to control. Practical and stylishly kitted out - I wished I had had the time to cook. Everything worked. Nice shower room. Cathedral bell charmingly quiet from inside. I liked that it was above a restaurant (not noisy) and enjoyed the rooftop view. Host easy to contact and helpful.
The lady at the reception was very helpful. Somehow booking forgot to intimate them that we would also have a child with us. She took it in her stride and made ready an extra bed in a jiffy. she was also nice enough to offer us an air conditioned room because it was literally burning outside. The location of the hotel is excellent… right by the lake (hence the name) with many restaurants in the neighborhood. Perfect for the casual traveler.
The hotel is undergoing renovation and is a little under-whelming on arrival. However, once greeted by the extremely hospitable host, Frederick, we felt completely at ease. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, served in the garden, accompanied by classic wines. Frederick has worked in both London and Paris and knows the art of service. He also speaks impeccable English.
A charming, inexpensive hotel.

Clean and organized. Wonderful view. One can see Autun from the terrace. Excellent hospitality. We were traveling with the motorbike and felt very welcomed. We arrived in the night and the owner helped us to order food in a restaurant when everything else was closed. The hospitality in this cute boutique hotel is something remarkable.
Very nice and sympathetic hostess, beautiful palace in the middle of the old town of Autun with charming courtyard. The decor and furnishings of the rooms were very aesthetic and with great attention to detail. We were highly satisfied.
Loved the location in Autun, very walkable to the heart of the city. Loved the historic ambience as well. Beds were very comfortable for us (we like a firm mattress). Oh, and the breakfast was ample and beautifully presented.
Great location - central and close to restaurants, supermarket and lovely town square - beautifully renovated and presented - had everything we needed. Owners charming and responsive. Autun is a great little town to visit.
