Amazing building and perfect location for the city centre.
Sophisticated Angers sits by 3 rivers draining into the Loire, and the imposing walls and turrets of its 13th-century fortress are a complete contrast to the other Loire Valley castles. The former Plantaganet seat, the castle is surrounded by landscaped gardens and a smaller castle inside contains the medieval Apocalypse Tapestry.
More modern tapestries are in St John’s Hospital, one of the oldest in Europe, by St Aubin’s Tower which was once part of an abbey. Ronceray Abbey sits amid half-timbered buildings on a street which continues over Verdun Bridge to St Maurice Cathedral, whose twin spires tower over Angers. Pavement cafes on the square behind overlook Adam’s House.
The main square - Place du Ralliement – houses the Grand Theatre and restaurants and bars serving Anjou wine and locally distilled Cointreau. Shopping streets surround it and nearby are the Fine Art Museum and Logis Pincé classical museum.
The court building overlooks the elegant Jardin du Mail, while the Jardin des Plantes are the oldest botanical gardens in Angers. The Terra Botanica amusement park is on St Aubin Island, one of several within the rivers. St Nicholas Lake has been artificially created, as has Maine Lake where there is a watersports centre.
The Angers accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury city centre hotels and cheap apartments near the train station.

Nice town great as stop over point on route to further French destination ( Bergerac for us). Pretty old town we enjoyed the tourist train which gave us a quick guided tour. Plenty of restaurants, tourist office and cafes and shops.

Angers is a beautiful city with stunning architecture and castle. Lots of winding streets, cobblestones and history everywhere. With lots of street cafes, bars and restaurants, it’s difficult to get your steps in before stopping for a crepe, galette or pastry.
Vineyards are everywhere and the Anjou wines are a must.
With a thriving student population, nightlife is good and varied and public transport is well served with buses and trams.

Angers is a fascinating small city on the Loire.
Angers is a fascinating small city on the Loire. And they do a great thing.....which is to mark on the pavement with a blue line the route to all the major sights. Even with a map this was excellent and helped us find out way with far fewer wrong turns than normal! Every tourits city should think of doing this.

Beautiful city. So artistic.
Beautiful city. So artistic. Thrilling architecture with so much history. I loved it. Clean & tidy. Not happy with the misuse or bad driving of scooters & it seems, sadly, that even clean & tidy cities like Angers can’t or won’t solve the problem many homeless & mentally ill wandering the street.

Only there for an evening walkabout but the castle/ramparts were quite extraordinary. The old town was also interesting with many old buildings.
Untypical of us, a couple in our late 70s we eat in an American style diner. It was a Monday and not much open. My wife and I lingered whilst eating our burgers listening to some memorable 60s music. A night to remember!
The Hotel is in the main square in the Ralliement area of Angers. Perfect for exploring the old part of the City as well as shopping, bars and restaurants. The staff were very friendly. Our room was excellent with a small terrace overlooking the Square. Free Non Alcoholic Cocktail on first evening was a nice surprise. Easy walk to the Cathedral, Chateau etc. Great value. Nespresso Coffee machine was a bonus.
Disaster city. Not the fault of the hotel. The hotel is beautiful but booking.com did not make it clear that we will be staying on the annex (probably the servants quarters) and although the room was quaint and tiny, it was not what we were expecting. So disappointed. We chose this place to stay in the chateau not the stables. Buyer beware when you book with booking.com!
This property is really gorgeous, with a quiet patio and garden at the back. Birdsong drifts through the windows in the morning, it's so nice and tranquill at night. But also just a 10-15 walk to get to the centre of Angers.
Loved the spacious and well appointed bathrooms, the well equipped kitchen with a large fridge.
A lot of properties like to think of themselves as four star whilst in reality they may be at best three stars. This is a real four star hotel if not better.
Loved, loved, loved the location, cleanliness, the welcome and the helpfulness of the front desk.
The room was comfortable and clean. Good amenities.
Nice location, very friendly and attentive staff.
Our room was ok: accurate and clean. But it was hard not to compare this room with the previous one of the same category at 4 star hotel in Rouen where we stayed for 2 nights before coming to Angers. The contrast was considerable...
Recently opened, large bedroom and bathroom, mini kitchen, secure onsite parking, walking distance of Angers centre. King size bed, good mattress. Large window that opens fully for air. Quiet at night, even with window open and train station nearby. Efficient staff.
A spacious and beautiful apartment in an old mansion - all very elegant. Phillipe met us at the property and answered any questions we had. This was the best value for money I had on my visits to France. I highly recommend this place.
Lovely room with comfortable bed and antique furniture. Charming hosts who both spoke English. Good breakfast served in a nicely furnished room. Close to city centre. Nearby underground car park (reasonable charge) at Parking du Mail
Very friendly and helpful staff, gave me a free room upgrade and let me use the gym even after the closing hour (after 10 PM). Delicious and copious breakfast. I fully recommend the hotel and would come here again.
The location was perfect for us, and not too far from downtown. The studio, the equipment, the amenities were very good. Would love to book there for my next trip in Angers.
Great choice for breakfast.
Hotel right next to the train station with easy access to taxis, buses, tram and only 10-15 minute walk from city centre (Place du Ralliement).
It was right on the center square in Angers, with the restaurants, shops and excitement of the life there. it was modern, clean, and roomy, our host was great.
