I enjoyed walking in direction to Bahia Tijeretas, Playa Baquerizo, Playa La Loberia, Las Negritas view and also to the local mine near the airport. The evening / dinner in The Pier restaurant was excellent. The afternoon trip to El Junco volcano, Galapaguera de Cerro Colorado was not worth the money, although swimming near Playa Puerto Chino was nice.

I came for a volunteer trip during which we did the 360 boat tour (snorkeling in 3 locations) and a trip to the highlands together (2 separate days). I stayed 3 extra days alone, which is either not enough or just enough depending on what you want to do. I do NOT recommend staying the entire time on San Cristobal because you’ll run out of things to do but I found out too late that a day trip to Santa Cruz is better if you can dedicate 1.5-2 full days (depart a 7 am and return the next morning or afternoon). A same day trip only gives you about 7 hours before you have to return. To go to Isabela requires 2 separate boat trips and at least half a day (not sure about Española but it is currently closed). You can visit all the major beaches in 1-2 days but anything else on the island requires a booked boat trip so if you want to snorkel in every single spot you need to spend probably 5 days minimum. Snorkeling every single day isn’t for me so depending on your interests, plan accordingly.
Except for Playa Mann, most of the beaches are a little far and/or require a hike over lava rocks to access so bring good walking shoes over sandals if you have to pick.
Overall after 3 more days I was bored and ready to leave, but if I had more time to visit the other islands I would probably have felt differently!

The town is compact and convenient for travelers.
The town is compact and convenient for travelers. Only 10 minutes walk from the airport to downtown. Most of hotels, restaurants, travel agencies, beaches locate within a 10-15 minutes walk distance. Beaches are full of wild animals such as sea lions, pelicans, iguanas, crabs, and fishes. The climate is quite comfortable. Safe to walk even in night time.

It is a nice, peaceful city. People is friendly and helpful.
It is a nice, peaceful city. People is friendly and helpful. Local authorities have a good Information Office that is ready to help you to get around. Restaurant Giuseppe is exceptionally good. Sea wolves will be found in every beach and giant Galapagos turtles can be seen in a nursery, designed for conservation. There are nice natural places reachable with a short walk. There are good places for diving and snorkeling.

I liked Playa Mann a lot.
I liked Playa Mann a lot. Very convenient and economical for lunch and coffee. Lots of sea lions which are tame! A great way to get around is to hire a bike......about 15 bucks per day. Great walks and sightseeing via El Centro de Interpretation. This is the starting point for some great beaches and snorkelling.

It was an absolute treat for an active vacation.
It was an absolute treat for an active vacation. We loved the outdoor fun including snorkeling (our first time), hiking and beaches. The tour guides were engaging for visitors, but they are also stewards of the islands. We saw a plethora of unique animals - some you can’t see anywhere else in the world! And, the people who live and work on San Cristobal Island make this a special place on Earth.

We were greeted warmly upon arrival and immediately informed about the possibilities for excursions, accessibility, etc.
The room is very large and from the balcony you even have a small view of the sea.
Warm water, air condition and a drinking water dispenser was available at all times.
The breakfast was sufficient and good.
Can't say anything bad about the location either. In a few minutes you can walk to the pier or the beach.
Restaurants, Supermarkets, Bakeries... everything is near the Hotel.
We would like to come back.
The owner and his sister were so personable and friendly and welcoming
we liked the feel of a very small boutique type hotel and we had a great little balcony overlooking the boats - water
Two hammocks and some chairs to relax on the porch -great AC
I thought the breakfast was one of the best I had the entire 24 days of our journey through Ecuador -everything was fresh and locally sourced and homemade
kudos to the kitchen and cooks
Nice property.Very nice family runs hotel. They offer me nice 360 tour what was the highlight of my stay in San Chistobal. Very nice breakfast (you can let them know day before if you have any trip so they can prepare breakfast before you leave... it is so nice!)
It is about 30 minute walk (or few minutes taxi ride) to Playa Loberia - very nice spot to snorkle, widelife watching or sunset!
It’s a cross between a hostal and a hotel, in that there are no cooking facilities. Personally not an issue for me.
I really liked how clean my room was. Every day the bed was made, floors cleaned and bathroom dealt with.
Location is great. Very easy to walk everywhere and generally quiet area.
Breakfast is ok, I would recommend dining out.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. They booked a ferry for us. The room was pretty clean and cleaned everyday. The TV and the air conditioning was very nice. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is nice but definitely more of a budget hotel with the facilities being a bit run down. All and all, it is a nice place to stay.
Staffs are really kind, the view from the terrace is also nice.
There is some-small ants in the room, but I guess it’s typical thing in Galapagos.
Wifi works well.
Hot water needs to wait, but it works.
Beds are cozy.
Near by Playa Mann beach, which is the beat famous spot in San Cristobal.
Having a small place to lay back and relax next to the pool was great. One of the few hotels in San Cristobal that has a pool. Big rooms with a big comfy bed and a big bathroom. Very nice place. The breakfast was ok, maybe a traditional Bolon would have been the best way to go.
The hotel has a great location close to Playa Mann but also to the Boulevard which is great when you are travelling with children.
Don Eduardo the owner is very kind always willing to give you advice. We will definitive come back to this hotel.
Super fast wi-fi. Free breakfast offered at a really nice restaurant next to the hotel. The restaurant is excellent with wonderful taste and unbelievable presentation. We had lunch and dinners there as well.
Wonderfully welcoming hosts, the hotel is simple but very comfortable and clean. Beautiful views from top rooms. Ideally located not far from the beach and the city while remote enough from downtown
I loved this hotel! Was very close to the main square and playa Mann. The room was comfortable and clean and shower was hot. The staff is super helpful and for the price you can’t beat this place!
Hotel Katarma was kept to a good standard. The rooms were clean, the pool area albeit small was very nice. The owner and the staff that we met were very helpful and friendly.
the staff was knowledgeable and helpful and very friendly. it was a true bed and breakfast feel. it never felt like a hotel, it felt like a home and i always felt very welcome
Breakfast was lovely and made to order. The hotel is beautifully landscaped with a sparkling pool which was a wonderful bonus. The family who runs the hotel is very nice :)
It was very close to Playa Mann, the rooms were spacious and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was also a short talk to the center of San Cristobal.
