Lot's of skunks, hookers and coke. None of which I enjoy. Everyone says its to close to San Jose. But, the surf was excellent when we arrived. Awesome break! The New Jersey pizza joint was the best food and company, also the creeper. Its best to be in your domicile by at least 9pm and damn sure don't go out after 11pm. Good luck.

Jaco was a fun place to visit. Stayed five days. Eating out in Jaco - ate some great local food. Safe to walk around. Nobody on street begging. Had to go to the private clinic and they were great. Food in town was considerably cheaper than on the resort.

Appealing for partygoers or college students. A bit too touristy and expensive for what is offered. My young adult children were solicited to purchase drugs and there were a few panhandlers and junkies on strip (not aggressive though). Jaco is walkable and the beach is nice for sunsets and surfing, but not swimming. We left La Fortuna to go to Jaco and it was a big contrast in experience. Overall, had a decent time and captured great pictures, but I wouldn’t run back.

I have no idea why there are so many comments online about this town being a must visit location. I couldn’t disagree more. It’s reminds me of a dive college down. The large resorts and condo building are an eyesore. The beach isn’t nearly as conducive to surfing as many of the other beach towns in Costa Rica. I love this country but I’ll never return to Jaco.

Vista Hermosa is about 5 mi from downtown Jaco, which is excellent if you’re not into crowds and nightlife. If you do not have a car you need to get a taxi if you need banking or groceries. Airport transfer is CASH ONLY, and ATMs are downtown. So make sure to bring enough cash to avoid the taxi hassle and transaction fees
Our stay of 6 days was amazing. As a Dutchie it was wonderful. The owner, Victor, is a super friendly and helpful person that wants the best for you. The room was nice with almost no noise from the busy nightlife of Jaco. There is an airco which is a necessity in the dry season. The hotel feels warm and cozy. The people are friendly and always up for a chat. I'd recommend Mar de Luz to any travelers who want to be in the city centre with a relaxed place to stay! Thanks Victor for the amazing stay! Houdoe
Unfortunately I contracted covid while visiting Costa Rica. The staff were entirely sympathetic and very accommodating. I was moved to a different room and kept separate from the other guests. I was regularly checked up on to see if I was alright. I was able to message reception with food and drinks orders and it was brought to my room by the lovely staff. They made every effort possible to make sure I was OK. I'm very thankful.
We loved the tranquility even if it’s close to the beach & downtown Jacó. The cleanliness of the kitchen & rooms & the proximity to Céline (the host) & all the other travelers. This place is AWESOME! The pool is in the sun all day & very nice to hang out at. There is a convenience store close by too.
There is a great chance to see red macaws in the tree right next to the hotel!
Local hotel was quiet and right on the beach. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was excellent and reasonable. Walking distance to other restaurants for variety, including a good pizza restaurant. Grounds and beach were clean and nicely lush. Guests were all seemed to be from Costa Rica which was great for meeting new people.
this was an enjoyable stay. our kids LOVED the pool and the fish/turtle pond. we had a wonderful balcony with a vew of the pool. the breakfast was included and was very good. typical costa rican breakfast plus some typical american breakfast items. the staff were very friendly and kept our room so clean.
We had a one night stop over in Jaco & this was a great super budget friendly place for us. We had a rental car delivered to the hotel and the hotel were really helpful in assisting us. It was a great location next to a brilliant bar & restaurant for dinner & gave us everything we need.
Everything over here was just perfect. We spent here our first nights in Costa Rica and after the long flight it was just perfect where to relax. Close to the beach, jungle but also with really nice pool.The staff was really nice as well, alway. asking if we need anything.
We were quoted a price $200 LESS than what we were actually charged. Why Is a booking and a cleaning fee charged?? Those should be part of any hotel price, NOT EXTRAS. We are Ticos but treated as if rich tourists, an incorrect view of many beach property owners.
This property has the literal cutest and coziest condos. I am Costa Rican and I brought my family from America here to see the country. This place was the perfect place to have them experience the beauty of Costa Rica. We will all be returning, no question!

Direct access to both pools and beach were a hit. Complete with shower/foot wash at re-entry point. The breakfast was traditional Costa Rican fare (fruit, rice/beans, plantains, sausage, and pancakes) and was good.
The beach was at the south end of Jaco and not very crowded. Food was excellent and condo with nice view of ocean. Staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Pool was excellent and surf lessons fun!

The beach at Playa blancas is wonderful. Very large spread out. Lots of space. To enjoy sunrise / sunset you have to stay at hotel as access private unless low tide.
