Not much to do in Cowra besides visiting the Japanese Garden and the former WWII POW campsite which can be done within half a day. A good place for a short stop but not much else to do there. There was an interesting hologram show at the Visitor Information centre about the Japanese POW camp breakout, the staff at the centre were very friendly and helpful too.

For those interested in the Cowra Prison Outbreak and the history of the area, this is a great place to visit. The Japanese Gardens are a beautiful place to visit. Cowra is a good place to reflect upon our history in relation to WWII and the positive relationship with now have with Japan.

Cowra is a very pretty town.
Cowra is a very pretty town. The highlight is the Japanese Gardens which are a must see on every visit as they change with the seasons. They are incredibly beautiful and tranquil. The cafe there is also great and offers a variety of food and drinks. Also of interest is the historical site of the Japanese POW camp and the old railway station.
This trip we ate at the Cowra Services Club where we enjoyed delicious, value for money meals. In addition, the club offers great accommodation.
It is also worth driving in the countryside around Cowra as it is quite spectacular.

Cowra is a service town on the western slopes of NSW.
Cowra is a service town on the western slopes of NSW. Was a major railway centre - there is a museum now. Strong links to Japanes twin cities due to POW camp in Cowra. Japanese gardens and war cemetery in Cowra. Major highway intersection point means a lot of services. Well tended older homes and gardens are a feature.

So much in such a small town - not really any restaurants around, but the POW exhbition, the art gallery and the Japanese gardens were absolutely fantastic. We also travelled further afield to do some hiking in Conimbla National Park (27 minute drive from Cowra) and Canabolas State Forest (an hour away from Cowra).
Absolutely beautiful outlook, 360 degree views over the surrounding fields and hills. Owner was so friendly, welcoming and chatty and told us all about the area, good walks to go on and the ideal way to see all the sights which we followed. The paddock in front had a big flock of sheep with mums and lambs, and two alpacas guarding them. Went on a walk and spotted kangaroos as well.
Room was large and beds were comfortable, had everything we needed. I would come back to Cowra just to stay there again! Such a lovely spot, unbeatable views.
Loved this motel! We travel quite a bit and stay in motels but this one was lovely. It was very clean and comfortable .it had everything we needed and the gentleman who looked after was very friendly and helpful. I can recommend this motel and I know you won’t be disappointed. We had two nights there and would have loved to have stayed longer.Looking forward to stating here again one day.
The location, size of the rooms, ease of checking in and as well as receiving certain recommendations. All facilities are perfect for a work trip away for a night. Also a great initiative to receive a Cowra Bowling Club membership which can be given to you at the check-in counter. I'll certainly be back
We were checking in late and the staff called to advise they would set up lights, heater, etc in the room. It was raining heavily so we were very pleased to come into a lovely warm room. Room was clean and hotel quiet. Would stay again if in the area.
Centrally located hotel, handy to eateries etc. Pleasant host. Nice and quiet. Older place, but maintained very well. A credit to the owner, Great shower and nice big TV. Good to have facilities to make my own breakfast.
Highly recommended.
The hotel room was very clean and spacious. I was pleasantly surprised to see a microwave in the room which allows for options. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great, quiet but still close to restaurants.
Noelene accommodated my early arrival which was most appreciated.
I was able to park my vehicle directly in front of my room, conveniently.
Property was easy to locate in Cowra, being on a main thoroughfare road.
Rooms were clean.
The location was in an idealic and relaxing setting. Great for a getaway for a couple or Family just a few minutes drive in to Cowra. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly which made our stay very enjoyable.
Excellent location in Cowra. Room was spacious with good facilities. Rooms that open to the inner courtyard and pool are definitely better than the rooms at the end of the hotel which open to a corridor only.
Nice and tidy property - very clean. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Only a 15 minute walk to the main street of Cowra, pubs and restaurants. Nice and quiet.
