The Japanese Gardens are a great drawcard, definitely worth a visit, as is the area of the POW Camp and its history. My friend had no idea of the history of the area until our visit.
Rosnay Winery cellar door is definitely worth a visit and the Cowra Tourist Information Hub is a must for any visitor.
The beautiful rose garden is directly out the front, worth a look.
You can also purchase a variety of local wines and produce from here and maybe wine tasting...

We visited the art gallery and saw an excellent exhibition. We also enjoyed a short drive further on to Canowindra a small historic place! The Japanese Gardens in Cowra are beautiful and the WW2 war history interesting.

The Japanese Gardens are a must see.
The Japanese Gardens are a must see. We went on the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival Day and had an enjoyable day. Lots to see and do and plenty of entertainment including Sumo/Karate/Samurai Sword/Dancing/Drum demonstrations. However, the gardens would also be good to visit any time of the year. There is also a cafe onsite with good food and coffee.

Given there is such an underrated amount of history in Cowra, it is important you visit the POW Camp site near the Japanese Gardens. The Camp site is an open space with a voice over sounding frequently. It gives you such a good background of the events that occurred there. If you have time, there is also a walk through the heritage listed place also. Japanese Gardens are a beautiful place. Definitely spend the extra $2 to feed the carp! The cafe is a little on the average side and if you visit on a weekday, there is a lot more of the town and shops open.

What me and my family really loved was the Japanese Garden and its Cafe. The Cafe was great as well as the exhibit gallery. The town was peaceful, quaint and charming. Unfortunately it wasn't spring yet so the cherry blossoms weren't in bloom yet.

Cowra has a very interesting history and would definitely have stayed a few more days if we could have. A friendly town with friendly locals. Had a nice meal at a local hotel and the motel we stayed at was excellent.

We did not require breakfast. It was lovely and clean and the quiet relaxing time we spent on the suite just outside the door was just what we needed after a long day of travel. It was our first time travelling with our small dog and we found it difficult finding suitable and clean accommodation. Thank you Cowra for the pleasant stay.
Our room was exceptional. Huge Queen-sized bed and an enormous and beautifully appointed bathroom. We appreciated the secure parking and the fact that the RSL Club was situated next door. and could be accessed from the motel. Proximity to the Cowra Japanese Memorial Garden was also a bonus.
The location was out a bit from the city centre but most of the hotels and clubs had courtesy buses so it wasn't a problem. The rural setting was a plus sitting at the rear of the hotel overlooking sheep and horses and the view. Very relaxing.
Excellent location in Cowra. Room was spacious with good facilities. Rooms that open to the inner courtyard and pool are definitely better than the rooms at the end of the hotel which open to a corridor only.
