Brett at the Visitors Information Centre in a font of knowledge and gave us lots of valuable information. The Coal Face Experience at the worker's club was very interesting and worthwhile. Pit Pony Tavern had great steaks for dinner. The recently refurbished Opal Ridge Motel is a great place to stay. Really enjoyed our short stay in Collinsville! Get out to Burdekin Dam if you can - the road's not that bad.

This is quite a busy little town.

This is quite a busy little town. There are two grocery stores which also have some hot cooked food, free 72 hour parking for caravans and a very neat little caravan park in town. Good hospital facilities and they also have a free technology centre where the community can access free computers/internet and also get help with any problems they may have. Plenty of places to buy prepared food for such a small town. I lost count of the number of parks that are in town and most of them also provided toilets.
