Royal Exchange Hotel, hotel in Broken Hill

The Royal Exchange Hotel is centrally located in Broken Hill, close to the border with South Australia. Featuring Art Deco design, it offers air-conditioned rooms with TV and internet connection.

Location of the Hotel was really good. (It was a mistake I made to stay) as my friends husband has a sore leg but hurt it more playing bowls so it was very difficult for him to negotiate the stairs. I also didnt realize that their room had a bath/shower which also made it harder for him to negotiate. I did ask them if they were happy to go to the Exchange Hotel as you had stairs and they didnt think it would be a problem.

Broken Hill Tourist Park, hotel in Broken Hill

This award-winning holiday park offers self-contained chalet-style accommodation with satellite TV and free Wi-Fi.

A secure caravan park with lots of people in and out, was a good spot with kitchen facilities for the long weekend. Heater available, parking at our cabin available. Not particularly fancy but it had everything we needed, did love the shower - but was very hard to keep the rest of the bathroom dry with just the shower curtain!

Broken Hill (for me) Female married in her 60's.

Broken Hill (for me) Female married in her 60's. I love broken Hill. I dont know why really but it gets me. We drove out to the Sculptures while our husbands played bowls. They were fantastic. (second time) Yes you have to pay and need a credit card. $10 and I think $7.50 for seniors. Once you enter the park you can go 2 ways. Yep we took the wrong one. Left you go to an area where you can walk through the bush, have toilets, BBQ area and family friendly. You can also walk to the Sculptures long stretch for us up hill. Hot (in June) I hope they rectify the signage entering the Park as on the way out ON THE BACK OF ONE SIGN IT HAD DRIVE ACCESS TO THE SCULPTURES. Very poor information after you have walked up to the Sculptures and could have driven. Pro Art's art really good even if you aren't into his style. The Big Picture in town fabulous. Bells Cafe south Broken Hill a walk back into the past. Very Busy but worth the wait. Didn't get to see the Flying Doctors but have been and will definitely go next time. Please leave a little donation in the cylinder. The outback need you. LOVE LOVE LOVE Broken Hill. What would I avoid.....nothing.

Excellent tourist town with lots to see and do.

Excellent tourist town with lots to see and do. Cafes and Restaurants (not the hotels) need to take into account public holiday opening times as many visit during holidays and expect to eat out for breakfast and/or coffee. Staff rates are expensive but even on a rotational basis amongst the business owners, public holiday to public holiday will guarantee a full house and good income for the effort on the day. Good variety of accommodation and friendly locals.

So much to see and do.

So much to see and do. We were kept busy seeing sites for the while week. Loved the gallery's, Silverton quaint, Menindee Lakes magnificent. Charlotte's Cafe was friendly and food great. Also Bells Cafe had great coffee and milk shakes. Mining times were very interesting too. Easy to get around Broken Hill. Enjoyed our time there.

We visited Broken Hill for three nights as a learning experience for out 10yo grand-daughter. There is lots to see and do - specially recommend: Outback Astronomy; Historic Daydream Mine; Royal Flying Doctor Service; Pro Hart Gallery; Menindee Lakes area, especially Historic Woolshed and drive out to Burke and Wills campsite; Living Desert National Park especially sculptures; Albert Kersten minerology and geology museum; Silverton, especially Mundi Mundi lookout and the cemetery; Block 10 lookout and Miners Memorial. You should get a 4WD vehicle to access all areas.

We stayed overnight only as a stop on a longer journey.

We stayed overnight only as a stop on a longer journey. From what little we saw, Broken Hill is steeped in mining history and pioneering in Australia. It's a clean and tidy town with good facilities and quite a lot to see. We intend to go back when time allows.

I stayed here for five days with my husband and another couple. We all really enjoyed this property. Everything worked very well, the two bedrooms were comfy and spacious. There were a few different spaces for people to sit and relax. It was also located in a quiet area of Broken Hill. We loved coming back to the comforts of the house after a day of exploring Broken Hill and surrounds. The owner was also very responsive and helpful in relation to a couple of minor queries.

The one bedroom studio apartment was cleverly designed so that the bed was very separate from the kitchenette and living area. It was a spacious unit with a walk-in-robe a pleasant surprise. Despite being on the main road, we had no issue with traffic noise. Various restaurants, hotels etc were an easy walk from the motel. Overall it was a very good experience staying there and we would recommend it to anyone wanting a couple of nights in Broken Hill.

This is the 3rd cheap motel I have tried in Broken HIll in the last couple of months, and it is the best of the bunch. So I guess it is my regular now. It is a few blocks from the centre of town, but if you are just driving through and want a bed for the night, what do you care if its not in the middle of town? (there is a RSL style restaurant 5 minutes walk away). You could do worse; I have done worse in BH a few times!

Don't let the outside appearance fool you. The plain 1970's exterior hides a hidden gem. These apartments have everything you could ever ask for (and then some!). Modern , spacious, super clean with fast wifi, a big smart TV, beautiful Super King Bed and great linen. Even a lovely starter hamper. I suspect this is the best accommodation in Broken Hill. It was certainly the best we experienced on our NSW road trip.

We had a cabin for 3 nights at this resort. The cabin is modern and well equipped. We enjoyed spending some time on the balcony. Also good to have a BBQ and kitchenette. Located at Mt Gipps out of town it was an easy drive to the centre of Broken Hill. We also enjoyed having a Pizza and drink at the on site pub.

Nice to be 'remote' Trees planted as a dust barrier like that has been done around Broken Hill will reduce the dust as they grow. Staff were wonderful. Green grass near pub pleasant. BBQ on balcony - perfect. 15 km drive into town easy. Drove up to dam Lovely sunset, unable to get in padlocks on park gates.

Great old hotel (more a guest house these days) in the centre of town, very pleasant staff, clean room with all the usual facilities, good-value paid breakfast in the wonderful dining room, easy parking outside. Recommend the Palace Hotel restaurant for an evening meal.

That they allowed our little pet to stay. A lot of hotels/motels are claiming to be pet friendly but when called, they disappointingly decline. Annemarie responded to my phone calls. There was a fridge & microwave, which is important to me.

The property was well maintained . There was everything that was needed for a self contained stay. Plenty of tea, coffee and milk for our two nights (3 people). The bathroom has been updated and the hot water was almost instant.
