Creel Lodge is different from the usual motel in its layout. The grounds are really beautiful with lots of plants and lawns. In addition at the back of the property there is a gate leading down to the river path. Highly recommended!

The staff provided exceptional guidance so that we could take stunning views of the mountains during sunset. Very high quality breakfast. Overall, exceeded my expectations in this rather remote/resource limited (to a city person at least) location.

My partner and I stayed at the River Lodge during our Christmas/ summer holiday and it was EXCEPTIONAL. Cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The hosts are fantastic, great vibes all round! The included breakfast was delicious and we had all the amenities we needed. Well worth the price and experience away from a chain hotel. The setting is so green, relaxing and warm. We slept so well as it was so quiet. Highly recommend you stay here if you are planning to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing - Dani can organise a direct shuttle to/from the track for you.

It was a perfect place to come back to after going on hikes and had all the amenities needed to make it a relaxing stay. David, the owner, was very accomodating and incredibly helpful.

Overall an amazing house.

The location for starters. The area is awesome. The property was easy to find and very convenient. Our hostess was very friendly and welcoming and everything we needed was available . The property is old but very cosy. Lots of wood to keep the Swiss chalet style. It suited us well for the night.
Everything! Used this accommodation as stopover from Wellington to Rotorua. A perfect stop, wonderful staff, very accommodating, comfortable. Property had full kitchen with everything you could possibly need, washing machine and dryer, fireplace with cut wood. All chalets are different, we had a three bedroom for 5 pax.
Loved the Swiss Mountain Cabin feel of Willowbrook. The native gardens and the deck were fabulous! Everything we needed for a weekend getaway
A wonderful place to stay, the cabin was beautiful, warm and cozy. We loved the fireplace and the spa pool at night with no light pollution the stars were bright and beautiful. The country surrounds and gardens are stunning. A great location, very close to Ohakune township, a few minutes drive. A delicious and beautiful breakfast served daily, thank you Dani for being a warm welcoming host. Highly recommend, we can't wait to come back and stay!
The location!! We stayed in the small cabin for two and the younger family members and friends stayed in one of the larger houses with a fireplace. On site restaurant is always top class. We had dinner on the Saturday evening and the food was perfectly prepared and presented. Our table was next to the fireplace so just perfect. Long safe walks on your doorstep and lovely chatty locals.
It was very reminiscent of an old ski chalet. Timber cladding everywhere and log fires. The location was excellent, the facilities were great, including the communal kitchen. The communal furniture was very comfortable as was the bed.
The breakfast was the best part of our stay at Chalet Eiger. Nina cooked to order beautiful English breakfasts and provided fruit platters, cereal and yogurts of gourmet standard. The location was leafy and quiet with pretty views of Lake Taupo, too far to walk to town for restaurants but the Chalet offers free shuttle in.
Great chalet-like accomodation in National Park, 3 mins from the busiest hotel/restaurant in town, ample parking space. Easy to arrange shuttle to/from Tongariro Crossing. Great firewood-heated common area. Breakfast excellent, lovely owners and staff. Good price.
Lovely little cabin with a beautiful view of Mt Ngauruhoe, it was older but has been done up, so nice comfortable beds and commodities. We didn't really use the kitchen much, but it was better equipped than many motels, with full sized fridge, 4 ring stove, oven and spacious. The restaurant was also very nice - great view, mountain chalet feel with all the ski memorabilia around, and good food. Bonus was the downstairs games room.
The Powderhorn really gives you that mountain cabin feel. It’s warm and cozy and everything is really nicely done. The bar is amazing with a vast craft beer selection and an awesome fireplace in the middle.
