Takaka
Offering free WiFi and set on the bank of a stream, Chalet Karaka offers accommodation 3 minutes' drive from Takaka village in Golden Bay. The 5-star guest house has river views, and guests can enjoy access to BBQ facilities . Chalet Karaka was absolutely delightful - a hidden gem, tucked away in a beautiful, tranquil bushy setting with a small picturesque stream running at the bottom of the garden. The shower was fantastic - excellent pressure with a lovely glass side looking out onto the private garden and stream. The room was spacious and well appointed and the icing on the cake was the generous outdoor undercover living area/deck complete with a Weber for all your barbecue requirements. Ngairie, our host, was friendly, welcoming and very helpful.
Pohara
Situated in the heart of Pohara Beach at Golden Bay, Ratanui Lodge was fully refurbished in winter 2021, it offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and free continental breakfast in a beautiful natural setting. It boasts a saltwater swimming pool, a restaurant and a lounge bar. Very well appointed room in lovely location and our restaurant meal was excellent. The staff were very welcoming and helpful with activities in the area.
Parapara
Situated on 10-acres of picturesque grounds, Cabbage Tree Chalet features a spacious deck with native bush and garden views.
Cabbage Tree Chalet is 1 km from Parapara Beach. It is ideally located for exploring Farewell Spit, Abel Tasman National Park and Kahurangi National Park. There are cafes and restaurants within 5 minutes' drive.
It was absolutely delightful. Gorgeous views and a lovely unit.
Pohara
Boasting a lovely outdoor swimming pool, a hot tub and free Wi-Fi, The Bay Lodge offers stunning views over Golden Bay and the Millennium Reserve.
All rooms include a flat-screen TV with DVD player. Each suite has a private deck, a refrigerator, an electric kettle and a toaster. The en suite bathrooms have a hairdryer and free toiletries.
Filip and Sonya were fabulous hosts-very hospitable and generous with information and recommendations. The shuttle service to Abel Tasman made a day tramping in the park seamless. We enjoyed the accommodations so much we were lucky enough to be able to extend our stay by one day. Pōhara is an excellent location for visiting the Golden Bay and I can’t recommend the Bay Lodge highly enough.

Such a beautiful place to stay and so close to the beach! Had everything we needed even kayaks, we enjoyed the BBQ in the evenings and loved watching the fantails in the garden.

Host are really kind, answer my every question and prepare water and gin as welcome gift. The room has fantastic facility for cooking and we enjoy our family dinner.

Nat & Grant are lovely and super helpful. Perfect place to disconnect, the alpacas are also great and friendly.
Takaka
Boasting sea views, First light rangihaeata offers accommodation with a terrace and a kettle, around 14 km from Golden Bay. Guests staying at this chalet have access to a well-equipped outdoor kitchen and a balcony. Location was great. Peaceful and quiet. The cabin looks idyllic. Shower itself was very nice.

Lovely place that is a short walk from Takaka town, super clean chalet with everything you need, nothing has been missed! Comfy beds and beautiful gardens with glow worm cave! Will stay again!
Cabin overlooked the beach and sea which was an amazing view. Very quiet with restaurants a short 3 minute walk away. Very clean and comfortable. Small, as expected, but most of our time was spent sitting outside watching the sea. Good shower and facilities with a fridge and kettle. Loved it.
Beach Location, functionality and size of the cabin, and the overall park facilities
The cabins are lovely, nestled nicely into the bush but still with good views over golden bay. Charming and peaceful, Elizabeth was very helpful and friendly.
What a beautiful area to stay in, we had such a relaxing time. Stayed in a cabin with two rooms. Had everything we needed.
Fantastic camping ground, beautiful location, we were just a last minute booking for a very basic cabin. Served the purpose of a night but if longer it would have been to cramped and small and far away from the toilet etc.
Fabulous setting with spectacular views and hosted by lovely people. The cabin was clean and modern and very comfortable.
I loved everything about this property. It was perfectly clean. I could not fault anything about this cute little chalet. Sleeping quarters was upstairs (via ladder) up in an A-framed ceiling/loft. The peacefulness and serenity of the chalet. sitting out on the deck having a few, and enjoying the view. I would love to come back again.
I loved the surroundings, the lovely garden and all the little surprises like the quaint little cabin around the corner with the outdoor setting. The host & hostess were very welcoming with great senses of humour. We loved the breakfast and the hot tub. Just perfect ! My husband loved the home made jam.
