A definite top 5 for me. We got the room with a private one and it was simply so amazing to have that within seconds of your room. Also it felt like the water in the private in room onsens had much more minerals than the large one but the large one is well worth a stay too as it feels so free to be the only one there and gazing upon the mountains as you bathe.

Oku no yu was great! The staff picked us up from the bus station and dropped us off. The facilities had a public and many private onsens to try. The staff helped us set up our futons and there were yukatas for us in the room. We had breakfast there and it was very yummy. Overall, great experience and would recommend!
We absolutely loved this hotel, we stayed in the Ryokan style twin room with tatami and a gorgeous view of the ocean. We used both the communal onsen and our in room one which were wonderful and relaxing. The staff were so helpful despite their limited English. The room was very spacious for 2 people and we'd love to stay again!
Room was spacious and comfortable, with own private onsen. They offered different patterned yukata for us to choose! We ordered dinner and breakfast and they offered the best meals we had to-date fr hotel/ ryokan. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. Free coffee / tea at lobby were a bonus.
Great location in Mount Aso in the heart of town. The onsen is a sulfur bath which leaves your skin feeling refreshed and Moisturised. There is a very conducive sitting room with fireplace and ground coffee provided. We were able to fit a family of 5 in the tatami room which is very unusual for hotels / ryokans. The tatami room is very comfortable. Nepalese staff are all English speaking and can help with translation.
The place is a great value for the money. It exceeded our expectations. Rooms with foutons were very clean, warm and well designed. You will have all the checklist of a good ryokan here: several onsens (even outside one), yukatas, kaiseki. And even more: tea table with all the things you need, private toilet and wash basin, good internet. Host was very nice and welcome. Definitely would recommend this place.
Clean, spacious room with comfortable futons, amenities and everything included. Private onsen hot enough, indoor and outdoor onsen was clean, big and free flowing. Small ryokan so it is quiet and intimate. Service was attentive.
Loved how large and comfortable the rooms are and after days of tatami mats and futons, the Western style rooms here are a good change. The dinner buffet has a good spread and the food was good! Plenty of choice for all. Onsen was nice too.
The staff at the ryokan was very polite. Room came with dinner and breakfast. Dinner was a very sumptuous meal with sashimi and few other courses. Ryokan also had its own onsen for us to enjoy and relax in. The beds and futon was also very comfortable.
Next to the main streets and restaurants. In the hotel, there is three nice onsens you can be in privately, then in the evening and night you can go when no one is using them. Free drinks in the hall, hot and cold. Mangas in Japanese and a few in English. Pet friendly (cats and dogs). Nice bedroom with tatami and futon beds!
Amazing ryokan, top-notch service, English speaking staff Futon beds on Tatami was quite comfortable Dinner and breakfast was very tasty In the middle of Kurokawa onsen with everything in walking distance 7 Onsens, switching daily from male to female Tattoo was no problem, not even mentioned
