The stay was perfect. The room was very comfortable and the location was excellent. The breakfast was great and the people were so helpful and friendly. Very well organized, Dedy Cool letting us know in advance the distance from the airport and helping with getting to the hotel. We did the one day tour and it was provided by fantastic tour guides who were extremely knowledgeable about the rainforest and Orangutangs. We would highly recommend.

If you plan on going to Bukit Lawang we would definitely recommend staying at the Jungle Inn! It’s right at the river curve, all the rooms look at the river and the restaurant too! We had the superior room and would recommend to spend the extra bucks for this dreamy room! It comes with a big terrace looking at the river and the jungle and an outside bathroom that makes every shower feel like you’re in a five star hotel! The bed is big and comfortable. We did not sleep this well in a very long time. Alde and all the other staff are very welcoming and kind and always made sure we had everything we needed. The food at the restaurant is so delicious! You can sit inside or outside and enjoy the view while eating and drinking like royalty! We are vegan and the staff at the Jungle Inn had absolutely no problem catering to our needs. The restaurant has a few board games and in the evenings you can sit and play games alone or with others. When we were there some of the staff sat together making music which made the evening so beautiful. Btw. if you’re lucky, you already get to see some Makkah monkeys or even orang utans from this hotel!

Sam’s Bungalows is quiet and isolated. You stay at the top of this narrow way that locate most of the tourist housing in Bukit Lawang. Therefore you will find lots of local restaurants while listening to jungle sounds. Sam’s kitchen is definitely one of the best, the food is excellent and the service provided is really good. We also used their taxi service from Medan airport. Perfect stay in Bukit Lawang!

The place is super well located and close to bars, restaurants and local shops. The views from the room face the river and the jungle which was great. The staff and management were incredibly helpful throughout our stay and they also went above and beyond to deliver my wife's glasses back to Singapore after forgetting them in our room.

5 starts, we are a couple, at our mid 30's we like to have a bit of a nice guesthouse, clean and friendly staff. Well, if this is what you also want, then we would like to recommend Sahnan's guesthouse. Business is runned by the family, son is perfectly English speaking. Washing service, very tidy and quick, good wifi, good kitchen as well. We recommend tis place.

Tia, the manager was fantastic from start to finish. I had called her weeks before arriving and she arranged the transfer from the airport, guide and was helpful in every way. The meals were good too and she was just great to be around. Kind and caring. The location is great and on the last morning an Orangutan and her baby came to feed on the Mango tree next to the bungalow.

We had such an amazing time here. The grounds were beautiful and the room was simple and basic but clean (you cannot complain for the price) the food was some of the best that we have had in Indonesia and our trip around Asia for the past 6 months. There are 3 cute cats too and a dog who just had some little puppies! The best part though was our jungle trekking with Supri and Rudi. They were such brilliant guides and they really made the experience amazing for us. They are such kind people and we felt so comfortable in the jungle with them. Both their English is amazing - especially as Supri lived in the UK for many years. Supri even helped us buy mosquito spray and helped me when my shoes broke 😆 and they gave us a lift to buy our bus tickets and drove us to our new accommodation. The food they gave us at the trek was so tasty too! A really important part of this trek for us was making sure our guides were ethical and respectful of the animals and jungle and you can really tell that these guys care a lot about their environment and the animals. They didn’t give any of the animals fruit and they were really careful in taking all rubbish etc away with them. They spoke so highly of their community that they grew up in and the plans they have for the future sustainability of the forest. They helped us get so (safely) close to so many orangutans 🦧 and even a huge male! Please don’t hesitate at all and book a tour with these guys! Thank you Supri and Rudi! This is as good as it gets. The owner (Udin) is a very nice guy and helped me with organizing my jungle trek as well as transportation. The guesthouse is located in a very nice part of Bukit Lawang, surrounded by lots of nature. You can also take a dip in the river right in front of it. I was also very happy with the food. Small menu, but all the dishes were excellent, homemade and with local ingredients. You will not find western food here, which is a good thing.

We loved the guesthouse, the wonderful location at the river and the very friendly staff! The food in the restaurant was also great. We also booked 2-day-jungle-trekking tour which was just amazing! We saw orangutans and monkeys, a snake and different birds. The guide was experienced and explained a lot of facts about the jungle to us. One of the highlights was definitely staying the night at the camp in the jungle.
