The room was good with a lovely view of the church. Staff were excellent (with the exception of one barmaid) and very helpful. The full English breakfast was very good.

Nice staff, good location (although not exactly straight forward to get to - an expensive Uber when considering the distance), facilities looked reasonable however I arrived too late in the night to use them (personal decision - I was still offered food/drink).
Budget friendly, clean, homely guest house about 10 minutes drive from London Stansted Airport (3.6 miles). Fast, easy and convenient SELF CHECK-IN and SELF CHECK-OUT.

The hosts were very welcoming and went out of their way to ensure you had everything you needed for your stay, they went above and beyond to make sure everything was excellent. The property was next to but away from the main cottage, fridge was well stocked, there was bread, croissants, cakes, cold meats, cheese, snacks, tomatoes, cucumbers even a beer and wine. The microwave worked fine, toaster was good. There was milk, tea (varying types, coffee (both filter and granules), chocolate and water by the bedside. The fridge was restocked each day and there were more croissants and cakes. You have full use of the garden and seats which has a great outlook onto the fields. The local pub is very good. The property was easy to find and you have parking for the duration of your stay. Cannot fault the property or the hosts. Nothing was too much, will visit again health allowing.

Everything was perfect, but our favourite bit was the outdoor seating area in the sun trap to sit back and admire the beautiful garden, breakfast was also lovely cooked with quality local ingredients.
Our daughter is autistic and usually struggles to adjust to new surroundings but having Netflix in the room enabled her to watch the things she likes and even she called it her new home.
Great Sampford B&B Sorrells farm is situated down a remote quiet country lane just outside of Great Sampford.

Great rural location - less than an hour from Cambridge and just over an hour to the coast. Great stay, comfortable and clean. Ready to make breakfast items were perfect- plenty of choice of cereals and bread/ croissants with fresh milk and orange juice each day.
The Red Lion pub in Great Sampford is definitely worth a visit- the food was delicious.
Also the nice walk down the road and round the byway by the fields was a great evening stroll. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Lovely lady on reception. All staff helpful and made me very welcome. Nothing too much trouble. Lovely old building and was great having a bath and shower. Will look to return to explore villages which looked lovely as only booked for airport stay night before a flight at Stansted on this occasion.

We were not interested in Thaxted.
We were not interested in Thaxted. The reason for our trip was ro visit Duxford IWM. We went to see the museum on the Friday and the Flying Finale on the Saturday.
From the booking.com information Thaxted appeared to be much closer to Duxford that the actuality. We only used the hoted for evening dinner, sleep and breakfast.

The food in the hotel was not good, my lunch had hair in it, there was food all over the floor that hadn’t been cleaned from breakfast, my breakfast was greasy & some of it was cold & we wait 35 minutes for it to arrive.
The staff were very friendly but the bar service was slow.
They wanted to charge me an extra £10 for our dog so I pointed out all the issues & they removed the charge

Thaxted is a wonderful place full of history and lovely people. Go to see Webbs mill, the Guildhall and of course the Parish Church ( which in the past has had and still has a social conscience - when Adam delved and Eve span, who was then the gentleman ? ). Walk around Thaxted and take in the timber framed buildings - you are looking at 14th and 15th Century and later history. Look at those Alms Houses and think of all those people that were able to live there, where otherwise they may not have had a home. You might even get a chance to see the Morris Men - and Women. Gustav Holst was Choir Master at the Church - he wrote the Planet Suite whilst in Thaxted !

Beautiful quaint medieval Town.
Beautiful quaint medieval Town. The Church is absolutely beautiful and the local residents so friendly! Utterly refreshing stay in such a happy Town.
There were lots going on locally during this Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend. The Lighting of the Beacon was spectacular! Highly recommend!
We ate at the Swan and Parishes both were very good and value for money! I would say ideally a car would be good but lovely walks all around!

Great location, pretty village.
Great location, pretty village.
Poor cleanliness in the room and bar areas. In need of an upgrade especially outside to the rear of the building. The bathroom was of a poor standard and had not been cleaned properly and the duty manager was called to view the state of the bathroom, the tea cups had not been washed properly, the glass top in the bathroom had previous guests toothpaste marks, the glass doors of the shower was covered in the previous guests shower gel, the plug in the shower had not been cleaned for some time, it was black, mouldy and had lots of hairs in it. Based on this experience I would not stay again in this property, or stay in other Greene King Hotels.
Stoney Lane is perfect for a short break as a couple. It’s a delightful tiny cottage full of beams and wonky floors, just a few steps from the centre of medieval Thaxted. There is lots to do in the area, and it’s location means that popping out in the locality is very straightforward. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. Communication from the owner was excellent.
Stony Lane is a beautiful old house in the heart of Thaxted. The lane itself is a quiet, traffic-free backwater so it is a perfect place to stay for a visit to Thaxted, or in our case for a wedding in the church, which is at the end of the lane. The house is well equiped, clean, and very comfortable with plenty of space for a short stay.
What a lovely quaint pub and hotel. The room is perfect for the overnight stay that we needed. We had a couple of drinks in the pub which is a beautiful 1600s old English pub and to top it off the owners could not have been more accommodating. We will definitely be back with the family for something to eat.
Lovely place. The place is exceptionally clean. The view is excellent. Katharine and Ben are very helpful. We really appreciate that they are always willing to accommodate our needs. Will definitely choose to stay here again once we are back to Thaxted.
We do like this hotel and keep returning. Location is exceptional and cannot find anything really to fault. Nice hotel rooms and very friendly staff. Very good breakfast and evening meal menu.
The location is brilliant, slap bang in the centre of Thaxted. The property is lovely and well maintained. We loved our stay and communication with the owner was great.
