The Roundthorn Country House and luxury self-catering Mews Apartments are set in landscaped gardens, with panoramic views of the Eden Valley and Lakeland Fells.

First class hotel. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful, comfortable room and excellent food. We were driving south from Scotland to Liverpool to join a cruise ship, unfortunately due to bad weather conditions our itinerary was changed and we elected not to sail. I rang the hotel on our way back north and were delighted that they were able to give us the same room. Would definitely stay at Roundthorn again.

Upgraded luxury experience. Allyson mentioned she didn't have professional training but we both felt that she was incredibly talented. Excellent- From bedding to bath. Even the instant coffee in the tea tray was a step up. (Fairtrade & organic). For a coffee lover that's had to deal with nescafe it was a nice surprise.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful on arrival and through check in. We were heading out early doors which meant we missed breakfast but we were given a selection of pastries the night before. Both the room and the chalet were spacious and had all the amenities we needed

Sunny Mount Glamping Pod, hotel in Temple Sowerby

Sunny Mount Glamping Pod is located in Long Marton, just 13 miles from Askham Hall and 31 miles from Derwentwater. This campground features free private parking and private check-in and check-out.

The pod is really cute, perfect for a short stay for 2. Toasty and peaceful at night. Bathroom is right next door, so no trekking miles like some campsites. The host was friendly and pottering around if we had needed, but let us get on with it. Good location often overlooked as so close the the Lakes, but we had some lovely walks. Great stay and will be back if we can.

Temple Sowerby is great walking territory and very handy for Penrith where there were many tempting places to eat. Dining at The King's Arms however was a good decision and we especially enjoyed the breakfast.

A very old, unusual village with a maypole that was about 40 foot high. A pleasant area to walk around. It was very easy to travel to other ares. Acorn House a NT property was close by with interesting gardens. The Kings Arms served excellent food.

A very pleasant place to stay .

A very pleasant place to stay .Staff are friendly pleasant and helpful.Food was excellant. Only thing to let the village down was the great lack of a village shop, not only for the locals ,passing trade, and guests of both inns in the village. I think it could be a goldmine and would add considerably to enhance a stay in Temple Sowerby.

The location is in a quiet village on the edge of the lakes...

The location is in a quiet village on the edge of the lakes and if you want you can easily drive there as the main road in to the lakes is 5 minutes drive. But if you want to stop local there is footpaths in all directions and we would if stopped longer would have explored. The main plus for us was that in the future and more time it would be a great area to explore more and relax in if you want.

This is a wonderful small hotel in a beautiful location. Lovely comfortable rooms, tastefully decorated with every possible amenity. The manager, a delightful Polish lady, did everything to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Dinner was outstanding (her home made cheese-cake is to die for!) and breakfast was equally good. This was the last night of a two week holiday in the Lake District and Scotland and could not have been better - easily the best accommodation of the trip (and by no means the most expensive.) Simply outstanding.

A small hotel/pub in a quiet village off the A66, this made a good stop for us on the way back from Scotland, but could easily be a base for a longer stay (they seem to specialise in fishing packages). The staff were friendly. Dinner and breakfast were good, with a good range of choice (will cook a fish if you catch one). The room was cosy and comfortable.
