FAQs about hotels in Edinburgh

A Feast for the Senses

A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.

The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.

Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.

For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.

Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

Always lots to do in Edinburgh.

Always lots to do in Edinburgh. We stayed a couple of days and visited Edinburgh Castle, Camera Obscura, National Gallery and the Britannia. Ocean terminal is great for a variety of restaurants. A day pass for the tram removes the usual city centre driving and parking hassle. Edinburgh zoo is great and will easily take up a few hours. Great city for families, couples and solo travellers.

Edinburgh is a great city if you like culture, cuisine and comedy. There's always a lot going on. They've got a million little cafes, bars and restaurants. It's also very historical and worth a visit if you're into castles and period buildings. It is quite expensive, especially to go out at night but most places are worth the expense.

    Edinburgh is full of life.

Edinburgh is full of life. Old Town has a fabulously bewitching vibe: underground vaults, cobblestone streets, narrow dark passageways, turrets and spires, and lively cafes and pubs housed in gothic buildings, soaring spires. New Town bustles with a more modern vibe but just as unique and full of Scottish character. It's a very walkable (and in some places hikeable) city, and good public transportation to take you from waterfront to the hills and anywhere in-between. There are many enchanting sights to just outside the city as well. Lastly, The National Museum of Scotland is seriously impressive and well worth a few hours on a rainy day.

Lovely small hotel just outside the city centre, with on-site parking. The owner was lovely and very accommodating (we ended up with a very late check-in due to an impromptu climbing of Ben Nevis). Also very helpful as a travel guide with what to do and where to eat. Beautiful building and furnishings. Very quaint and spacious room with modern bathroom and excellent shower. On bus route, so easy access in and out of Edinburgh city centre without the hassles of driving and parking.

The hotel is very centrally located - in the heart of Edinburgh. It was an easy walk to the castle, royal mile, train station, new town, etc. Grass market is a great location surrounded by popular restaurants and pubs. The staff is very welcoming and ensured that our stay is comfortable and safe. They take many measures to ensure cleanliness and hygiene which is very crucial in this new era. Overall - we loved our stay and would highly recommend it.

The location of this hotel was spot on, close to everything in Old Town. We walked everywhere and saw everything that we wanted to see in Edinburgh. We had a day trip to the Highlands and such as well and walked to the pick up spot just around the corner. Staff was friendly, beds were comfortable and there was great water pressure.
