I can not rate this hotel highly enough.. I stayed here with my Grandson while we explored northumberland. When I tell you they could not have been more helpful, friendly or hospitable is an understatement. The made a fuss of my Grandson and made him feel special, every kid loves that. We used the pool which was amazing, and clean towels awaited us when we were finished. Super clean room, super comfortable bed, and an amazing breakfast... We will for sure be back... thank you to all the front desk staff, and all the housekeepers that said good morning to my Grandson as we left.... Great Job guys...❤️

You need to book well in advance if you want to watch the Black Cats at the stadium of light! There is a nice railway connection to nearby Seaham if you want to visit. You can walk along the Wear through a sculpture park and the city centre is excellent for cheap food and drink.

Sunderland was good, but if you want 4* service at 4* prices don't go to The Grand. Only pub food and you make your own bed and carry out own room service. REALLY NOT ON.
Good point, staff lovely and very helpful

The enterance of the hotel gives you a warm welcoming feeling.
My wife and I travelled up to Sunderland to see our daughter, who is working on the Lion King. We were met by Tony, he showed us around and explained the history of the building. The room is adequate, the location is excellent' not to far from city centre. We had a meal at the Italian restaurant which is part of the same building, which was very good, still very helpful. We would stay again. Thank you very much.
Fab location right on Roker seafront, easy access to both Sunderland and Newcastle. The room was modern and clean and the en suite was nice. Plenty of parking out front and they let us drop off the car before check in so we could go into the city centre and have a walk around.
Very friendly staff happy to point us in the right direction and have a little chat.
Hotel was well located within easy reach of the city centre and transport networks. Room was a good size with Super King size bed and had all usual facilities i.e. safe, iron & board, refreshments tray, hair dryer etc. Room was cleaned "on demand" due to covid restrictions but not a problem to request clean linen or other consumables.
We stayed with our 2 children. Loved how big the room was and how homely it felt. Our children loved the divider curtain. We come up every few months to visit my husbands family (he us from sunderland) and normally change hotels each trip, but Lijie made us feel so welcome so we will definitely be coming back. A wonderful place.
Great leisure facilities, and a superb sea view. Excellent value for money, in an amazing location. Seaburn and Roker beaches are far superior to those found at Whitley Bay and Tynemouth, and this hotel is right in the middle of the 2 Sunderland beach resorts. Highly recommended.
Everything about your Hotel in my opinion was first class .The staff were fabulous very friendly and professional and nothing was to much trouble for them,in my case they went out of their way to return an item I did not realise I had lost.Thank you at Sunderland Holiday Inn
The hotel is in a great location and was tremendous value for money. The food was very good with loads of choices available. The staff were all brilliant, very friendly and helpful. Great 4 star hotel with 5 star staff.
Beautiful hotel, spotless clean. Fantastic host. Lovely breakfast and if you book the deluxe suite you get the bonus of a sea view. The bed was so comfy. Will not stay anywhere else again when visiting Sunderland.
The location is great, the views of the shipyard/sea was great. Its a great base for Sunderland/Roker Pier/Travel to Newcastle/Northumberland. The apartment was spacious and has a good layout/amenities inside.
fab friendly staff on arrival, room was very nice, a good size and very clean, with a nice big comfy bed hotel appeared very quiet and settled overnight with very little noise aiding a good nights sleep.
Everything that we needed for a comfortable stay was supplied in the apartment. The apartment was easy to find and was conveniently located for Sunderland city centre and for outlying attractions.
The hotel is probably the best placed in Sunderland.
The Inn / pub below is very nice but tees you up for a bit of a let down once you get to the rooms.
Balcony / views are excellent.
