The room was so dated it was like time travel back to the 1970s! Initially quite amusing and was a bit of nostalgic!

The Mayfield is a lovely place to stay. Located in. Seamer, on Scarborough's outskirts, has easy access to Scarborough via the Coastliner bus service. We have stayed here before and as usual, our room was comfortable, and clean and had everything you need for an overnight stay. The food is excellent, especially the delicious breakfast and the staff are helpful and very pleasant. Overall an excellent overnight stay.

Room was spacious and light (Belvoir Room). Breakfast was good and served hot. Staff friendliness but appeared a little overstretched at times but it was just after Easter so probably normally a lull in guests.

From the second we arrived we were very happy
We were met by the loveliest lady and owner Claire, before even seeing our room we were already very happy just from the friendliest and loveliest welcome. The room was lovely and felt homely. The bed was the best bed weve ever stayed in, to the point my partner even checked the bedding labels so we can get our own! 😂 All staff couldnt do enough and we loved that it was a close knit team who clearly cared about their guests. Thank you all so much x

The room was comfortable and warm. The lady on reception was wonderful with us!
We forgot to pack our toothpaste and she bought some for us and brought it to our room!
The breakfast was great, there was a good choice and all of good quality, although we didn’t order anything cooked.
The lady serving breakfast was lovely and friendly too.

Our hotel location was on the South side of Scarborough...
Our hotel location was on the South side of Scarborough which we prefer due to being quieter with great walks, Italian Garden area and panoramic views of the harbour town area and beach. The town centre area has plenty of shops, eateries and entertainments but not as preferable. We didn't visit the North bay area but it does feature a great park area to explore. On busy days traffic routes through the town can be tiresome and badly signposted for unfamiliar driving visitors. (without satnav guidance maybe?!) Parking can be problematic so do some homework before booking a location.

I actually really like this place , we went to a small local restaurant called
II Piatto ( I went there the last time I stayed) you may need to book but you will not be disappointed with the food. They also take the taste card so you get 2 for 1 on a main course.

Beautiful beach.
Beautiful beach. Very hilly to get to town but a tramway provides a great service to and from the beach. Food delicious. Fish and chips, dohnuts, pies,. Can do boat trips and a crazy golf too. Town centre has shops and quirky unique ones too. Beautiful place, Of course the tV show The Royal was filmed here too.

I liked the friendly people and I loved the cliff railways. The 2p amusement arcades were fun too.
My highlights:
Going on the miniature railway in north bay
Trip on the pirate ship where we saw a dolphin
The two working cliff lifts (funicular railways)
Fish and chips
Lots of ice cream
The castle

Scarborough has sone lovely buildings and history.
Scarborough has sone lovely buildings and history. The beaches are nice but weather was bad so they were closed due to high tide flooding street at harbour.
Lots of places shit so we struggled to find places to eat breakfast not many cafes open, evenings not many places to eat as lots shut early as seems out of season. The Scarborough arms pub we found near the apartment was the best, great food and beer, lovely building and atmosphere. Best food in town.
High street lots of shops and pretty bustling. Police about so felt safe.
Just found did most of it in 2 days so long enough for us

Scarborough is a traditional British seaside resort with 2...
Scarborough is a traditional British seaside resort with 2 fantastic beaches to enjoy. There is so much to do in both areas, the North Bay beach is less commercial with beautiful and colourful beach huts and a few fantastic restaurants and bars and places to get ice cream. At the very end of this bay is the Sea Life Centre which is a great day out, especially if the weather isn't great. Peasholm Park is also on the North side where you can enjoy a walk or a trip on a dragon pedalo and just over the road is the Open Air Theatre. Take a walk or a bus around Marine Drive to access the vibrant South Bay where you'll find a lovely harbour, amusements and another beach. Plenty of varied places to eat and drink. Be aware of tide times as the tide comes nearly all the way in (sometimes all the way in and over!) so this can influence your beach day! This review just scratches the surface of things you can do! Plus Bridlington is just a short drive down the coast and Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay up the coast - the North Yorkshire Moors and all the wonderful things you can do there makes Scarborough a great base to explore the area!
It's the first time we have stayed at the Royal,0 and we only went room only, so cannot gage on food etc ..but the room was very good and clean ...access was excellent ..it was right in the place we needed it...just over the road to the lift down to the coastline, and round the corner for the high street...I have mobility issues, and was very happy I was on relatively flat areas wherever I wanted to go to outside.. so I will definitely book the Royal Hotel again when we come to Scarborough.
If I could give double marks for cleanliness, lovely hosting from Zsuzsanna and all the lovely decor touches of wooden art and pictures (Kevin)..... I would.
A warm welcome, delicious breakfasts and always on hand for the occasional question. The Leeway is perfectly positioned for North Bay/beach (my favourite), and parking was easy too - thanks to the hotel. We had a relaxing stay and would certainly return and recommend to others.
Very friendly and helpful team led by Claire.
The property is situated perfect for a short walk to the beach or into town in what I would consider to be the best part of Scarborough.
Parking was easy and permits available. (We managed to park directly outside the hotel.
The rooms are clean and comfortable.
Thanks Claire and team, we’ll be back in a heartbeat, Dan xo
Very friendly hosts who took time to chat and asked about our day. Lovely breakfast, fresh and ample and catered to everyone's needs. Parking was available just outside the hotel and they provided us with parking cards. We would definitely return to this hotel when we visit Scarborough again! Thanks Paul and David!
We love this hotel, this was our 3rd visit and won’t be our last! Stunning views across Scarborough, so peaceful and we stayed in the beautiful apartment’The Great Escape’ and it truly was.
The staff were so friendly and welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was the best it could be.
We visited Scarborough to see a concert at the open air theatre. After hearing a lot of negativity about the Grand Hotel was quite apprehensive, but what a joy ! It was an absolute pleasure and what a popular hotel ! Will definitely return next time we have a Scarborough weekend away x
The hotel was a lovely place to stay for a few nights and the rooms had everything you needed. Staff members were friendly and willing to help you out in the best way possible. The location of the hotel was ideal, you had all of Scarborough on your doorstep.
Hotel is clean and tidy, room was a good size. Staff are extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Ideal location for a stay in Scarborough . Friendly bar . Drinks are relatively cheap compared to what is expected of hotels....cheaper than pub prices.
Comfortable room and not far from Scarborough Spa where we went to watch a show. Parking permits are given by the hotel which is helpful when the car park is fully booked, but may have to park a distance away if busy.
The hotel and room were clean. I loved that there was a kettle with complimentary drinks. Also the entertainment was superb. The staff have all been friendly including reception, Bingo caller and cleaners.
We love the location and the aesthetic and the cleanliness of this hotel. The views are great. The bar and lounge areas are fabulous. Great customer service.
