Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable, well appointed room. Good breakfast and great value. Spacious car park. Limited menu for evening meal but only a guide as our hosts were happy to accommodate requests. Guest ale and good wine were a great bonus.

Beautiful home in an even more beautiful rural location but close enough to town that we could easily go in for dinner. Room was clean, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed. Bathroom was like a new build and very clean. Breakfast room had a beautiful view and the hot meal was delicious.
Wonderful surrounding countryside complements the splendor of this Victorian-style, family-owned holiday and conference hotel in the center of the spa town of Llandrindod Wells.

My sister and I were visiting relatives in the area. On arrival the room was warm and clean. When we came back in later they were happy to open the bar for us and were friendly. Breakfast had a very good choice and the view from the dining room was lovely. We were only there for 1 night but if we needed accommodation again, would definitely come back.

Ben was very friendly and accommodating. We requested to stay an additional night (2 rooms) and he rearranged rooms to ensure we had two rooms for two nights. He made us feel welcomed and looked after.

Very good full 'English' (in Wales) breakfast and the evening meals in the bar were reasonably priced and tasty. The room was warm and there was a good selection of tea/coffee and complimentary biscuits. Overall it was comfortable, warm and good value for money compared to other establishments in Llandrindod.

Breakfast choices good and quality and amount fine. Service prompt. Dinner excellent- cost of main course on high side for this location. We pay less in a high tourist city where we live. Dessert sensible price.
Service good and staff willing to engage and be informative.

A quiet village on the main roads from Newtown to Llandrindod Wells. There are no facilities or visitor attractions in the village but the Lion Hotel is well located for walking and trips to mid-Wales attractrions.
I booked last minute for work, made payment which the hotel took immediately. I emailed the hotel at the time of booking to confirm I would be arriving late. I did not receive an acknowledgement. We tried calling them all evening while on route but they did not answer their phones. Arrived late and no one around to check me in. Denied receiving email, or getting calls despite screenshots of the call log, no apologies, sympathy and refused to refund for a stay which didn't happen as they can't use their own communication channels.
We planned a short walking holiday in the centre of Wales and The Lion Hotel was just right for purpose. Very clean with a rustic charm, excellent breakfasts and equally excellent pub food in the evenings. It’s aimed at the budget market so our room was compact but the electric shower was adequate and my picky wife declared the bathroom to be very hygienic. (It was a bit dated so we called it ‘retro’.) Our twin beds were comfy with a selection of pillows, and all of this plus two very friendly, helpful hosts made for a relaxed stay.
In the days of hotel chains it was so nice to find a well run, privately owned, place to stay.
We had a dual aspect room with plenty of light and gorgeous views of the surrounding countryside. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. So much so that we overslept.
When had we asked what time breakfast was, we were asked, 'when do you want it?'
The overall feeling was that the owners were trying to provide good, old fashioned service.
We definitely want to stay again.
Janet and Ray are welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
I am coeliac and Janet provided an excellent variety of meals to choose from. All the food was delicious.
I would definitely recommend Lion Hotel to friends and family and I will go back there next time I'm in the area.
The staff were very friendly and gave us some local knowledge of the area. We had undercover parking for our motorbikes which was great. The food in the Hotel is excellent and the rooms were very clean.
The hotel is nice and traditional the rooms are ok, we were made very welcome and the evening meal was great, our breakfast was good and filling ready for a long day, we would go again...
Beautiful location and the hotel was spotless. The host was very welcoming with some fantastic stories to tell, as well as an abundance of local knowledge. We would definitely return.
This is truly a unique place, it feels more like a guest house than a pub hotel and the owners are very warm and welcoming with nothing being to much trouble. The views are stunning.
