The room was very nice. Comfortable beds and clean. Our was a twin room and very spacious.
Electric heater for when we came in cold and wet to warm up quickly was good.

The location was ideal for us to attend the Festival programme at Cliff College. The property was spotlessly clean, warm and furnished to a high standard, with everything we needed for a 4 night break. Excellent communication with hosts - prompt and helpful replies to all our questions.

Everything was great except breakfast. In small print on the menu it stated that breakfast was rationed to one particular type of breakfast, for example, you could have a continental breakfast alone or you could have a full English breakfast alone or you could have a vegetarian breakfast alone. You could not mix and match. This meant I could only have a full English breakfast but could not have any croissant, could not have any cerial, could not have any yogurt. Furthermore the Toast arrived after I had received my full breakfast, not with the pot of tea and there was no jam or marmalade offered with it just very hard butter from the fridge. Having said all that, the hotel was excellent, the bedroom was excellent and apart from breakfast, the whole experience was excellent. We will definitely go back there again despite the breakfast problem.

Fantastic location, right in the middle of Bakewell. Rooms were much bigger than average & bed was very comfortable. Restaurant food was really nice and the staff were friendly.

The bed was very comfortable; there was a good blast of water from the shower, and fluffy towels on the heated towel rail.

Great all round experience at this upmarket/boutique hotel/restaurant/pub in the heart of the Peak District. Although the staff all seem very young they all knew exactly what they were doing so check in and dinner were all handled in a warm friendly and professional manner. We were in one of the new rooms which was very well appointed and had a huge en-suite plus a fresh mini bottle of milk in the fridge which was a nice touch. We were also given a complimentary drink each which could be taken at the bar or even at dinner, whenever you wanted. The food was decent but not perfect (my triple cooked chips were sadly soggy) but it was a bank holiday weekend which is often not the best time to judge a kitchen. On the whole the menu and food were very good plus a nice wine and cocktails list.
Lastly you get a dedicated parking space with your name on it in the small hotel car park, another nice touch.
Lovely rural location for escaping to the countryside.
Lovely rural location for escaping to the countryside. We enjoyed all our pre-booked meals in the dining room at Cliff College. Great menu with choices for dietary needs and served with a smile. Amazed at how well the staff coped with serving such large numbers. Definitely hope to return.

Froggart is probably one of the prettiest villages in the Peak District with good walks and pretty central to be able to get to everywhere without being touristy.
2 minutes down the road from Calver which has all the local amenities and it’s over looked by froggartt edge which is a great walk with amazing views onto the village

You need to drive down a narrowing country road to get to it but once you get there, there’s a parking bay immediately outside the property.
The property is very clean which in this day and age is very important and the room comfortable. However, we had trouble turning on the shower and was given a rubber band by the owner to use around the round handle for better grip. Apparently, they’re aware of the problem/issue but according to the gentleman there’s nothing they can do about it. All showers have the same problem/issue.
As far as the breakfast was concerned, I had full English on the first morning and porridge on the second day. I’ve eaten much better full English breakfast but the porridge was very nice.
In summary, we loved the cleanliness and quietness of the place but the shower issue and the breakfast let it down slightly. Both proprietors, especially Vivian, are nice and helpful.

Plenty of lovely walks in the area that were within walking distance and lots more within 10 minutes in the car, especially if you have dogs. We visited The Bridge Inn for food and drinks, this was a lovely dog friendly pub with a lovely riverside back garden. Several other pubs in the area too that were dog friendly which was a bonus for us as we had taken our dog with us.

A lovely wee place, close to lots of interesting places to visit. Nice local pubs. Eyam (the village that quarantined itself when they got the plague in the 1600s) was very close - walking distance or a short drive. Lots of nice walks. The reservoir where the Dam Busters practised is also a short drive away. If the weather doesn't play ball, Haddon Hall is a short drive away and was an amazing place to visit, with a good cafe too.

Located ideally for many walks.
Located ideally for many walks. Places to eat within 5/10 minutes drive . Only 1 place to eat in village , which is a bit of a negative.
Plenty of circular walks also within 10 minutes drive where you can park on the side of the road.
This was our second stay at Rock View we came last year and couldn’t wait to return. The cottage is clean and the rooms are spacious with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Froggatt is a beautiful old village with walking paths in every direction not just the hills but also along the lovely Derwent Valley, we hardly used our car all week. There are four pubs serving really good food within easy walking distance. The owner Kathy was very helpful with ideas etc and we hope to see her again next year.
Liked the Welcome, Staff, Room, Food. The owners were more than happy to advise on the area and its attractions.
An excellent hotel for our requirements. It's a bit out of the way, but if you're there for walking etc or if you want to use it as a base for exploring the Peak District, a very good choice.
Not the cheapest, but you usually get what you pay for. In this case you certainly do. Definitely recommended.
Lovely quiet place to stay. The room was lovely and very clean. The shower was great , just what was needed after a long 12 mile walk.
Breakfast was was very nice .
Parking spot a bonus.
We would definitely stay at the Old Orchard again ... an ideal place to stay especially if you like walking/ hiking. River walks or Froggatt Edge hike are close by .
A beautiful property in the heart of Froggatt. Delightful period features with a lovely sunny terrace. Large rooms provide space to unwind and relax. Kathy the owner was friendly and approachable. The location is a great place to start many walks along the river Derwent and Froggatt Edge but also further afield. We will return.
The location is great. The views from the bedroom were fantastic. Easy to find using sat nav and very easy to get to places around. The shower is very powerful! Good cooker breakfast too.
Staying here, please ensure you visit Froggatt Edge which was amazing
Dinner - vegan options were nice, limited choice but we knew that.
Room was a good size, comfortable, nice view over the valley
Staff were friendly
Walks from hotel down to river Serwent and / or up to Froggatt Edge were splendid!
The location is ideally placed for walks along the river Derwent, Froggatt Edge, Padley Gorge and many other beauty spots. There are lots of places to eat and drink near by. We found the property to be very quiet and comfortable.
The location was beautiful and we really enjoyed Froggatt. The host provided a very helpful booklet of information which gave a number of recommendations of things to do, places to eat etc.
Small purpose created space, bright and fresh. Well equipped and immaculately clean. Perfect location for us. Gorgeous setting with great views of countryside and Froggatt edge.
