It was in an excellent location, very convenient for visiting York, and Riccall has an excellent Italian restaurant in a converted windmill, which is handy. The property has been converted to a very high standard and is very quiet. The decor was stylish and tasteful. There was a pretty garden and a lovely view over the lake and grounds of the house next door. Apart from the fact that we had a problem with the key box to get in, which the owners sorted quickly, we have nothing negative to report.

Another excellent experience at The Grand. It's becoming my second home. Gluten free biscuits in the room and a new gluten free section at breakfast. Heaven.

Location of hotel is great, a nice little walk up the river into the centre.
Bar area is stunning.
The addition of the kids play area in the bar/reception area is a fantastic idea and was loved by our kids.
