Chinon is easily walkable from the river up to the castle/fortress ruins on small streets that are still used in the daily lives of its’ residents. Although old, it is lively and offers many restaurants and shops for any needs you may have. Rather a charming, old city.

The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history.
The Royal Palace was excellent, with a lot of history. The old town was very picturesque with some excellent restaurants. A lot of climbing although there is a lift from the lower town to the fortress. A good range of shops, cafes and bars.

Chinon has the feel of a village.
Chinon has the feel of a village. It is not that small, but there is a sense of security and ample access to food, wine, and services all reached on foot. There is no need to use a car in town. The weekly market is vey large and we easily reached it on foot even though is was near the opposite end of the town from our apartment. The climb (many steps) to the fortress is well worth the effort but there is also a free elevator provided by the town. If you want to comprehend how nice it is, visit busy Saumur which is full of traffic, stop lights, priorité a droit, steep roads, and noise.

Architecture (limestone) unchanged for centuries, elsewhere troglodyte constructions. Historic castle. Numerous restaurants (especially Hotel de la Paix). Easy access to other Chateaux de la Loire, great atmosphere.
Brilliant location, so walking to all parts ofChinon was easy. Having a parking permit included was great. Lovely 13th century apartment, although with a shared loo and bathroom between the two bedrooms. Steep and quite awkward steps to get up to the apartment, which might be a problem for some. Kitchen good, with lots of tea and coffee making equipment, plus oven and hob. Lovely living room, and amazing main bedroom. Wi-Fi worked well.
Domaine De Givre was exceptional in every way. A charming and comfortable stay with delightful reception and support from the owners.
We could not reccommend this accomodation more highly nor its very convenient and yet beautiful location next to Chinon in the Loire Valley.
Ronan and Vero , the owners we utterly charming and very very helpful.
We simply loved everything about our stay!!
Fantastic atmosphere of classic house. Classic but also with sufficient amenity in the room, I assumed it was guranteed by the standard of Bestwestern group hotels, quality of breakfast was also. At great location. A public parking was just behind the hotel with enough space. Reception staffs were always friendly.
Great location literally in the middle of the old town in beautiful Chinon, under the fortress. Parking directly outside (payable between 9-12 and 14-19h, hood rates). Really well laid out apartment with oven, hob, microwave and toaster. Free laundry in the cellar of the building.
A large, spacious property situated within a short walk from the lovely town of Chinon. Everything we needed was provided. It was great to be able to use the bikes; it is an exceptional area for cycling and visiting the many, magnificent chateaux in the area.
Great, quiet hotel on the outside of the town which I prefer. I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights while I explored this part of the Loire valley. Nice big clean room, good bed and bathroom and it has a lovely garden with different spaces with to sit in.
Extremely nice host welcomed us to a very beautiful property. Very complete equipment, comfortable bedding, well equipped kitchen, nice pool, onsite parking...The house is located in a quiet village just outside Chinon.
The room was beautiful, the terrace was peaceful, and the stairwell was charming. The hostess and her hospitality was exceptional.
Breakfast was the far exceeded the other 4 hotels we enjoyed in France
We loved our stay at Nature & Chateau. The apartment was in the centre of Chinon, easy walk to everything. Lovely views of the medieval town from all windows. Very clean and comfortable
Everything. The views of the river and the chateau are amazing. The rooms are spacious. The terrace is lovely. The hosts were so helpful and friendly. The location is perfect.
Our beautifully furnished room had a balcony that opened out onto a stunning view of the river. It was a lovely way to spend our first night in France after a long time away.

Maurice is a wonderful host , exceptionally charming and extremely helpful.
The apartment is in a fantastic location, it was charming, clean and thoughtfully decorated. We loved it and we would definitely stay there again if we were in Chinon!
