Only a 7-minute walk from Akakura Ski Resort, Hotel Taiko features indoor and outdoor public hot spring baths, massages and a sauna. Japanese-style rooms offer majestic mountain views, and free Wi-Fi is provided at the lobby. Ski equipment rentals are available.

We loved the traditional Japanese rooms. it was spacious and clean and the large window that overlooked the mountains was the best! The room was kept very clean and warm, and I absolutely loved the hot water and tea corner that was a life saver! They even had a shuttle bus from the nearest station so that made the journey effortless and smooth. The buffet breakfast had a huge selection, both traditional and western options too! We also made use of the Ski rental shop which was mighty convenient!

The spacious rooms at Kofukan Ryokan feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring and shoji paper screens. All are air-conditioned, with a fridge and electric kettle provided. The en suite bathroom has a bathtub and Western toilet.

Very good value overall. Staff speaks good English. Got private bathroom, which is essential for me. Nice japanese breakfast, with variation everyday. Can buy discounted ski pass tickets (around 25% off) for Ikenotaira, Suginohara and Akakura Onsen. Free shuttle to get you to these 3 ski resorts too. Can do pickup at station between 7am and 7pm when you arrive and leave. Onsen bath is very nice and the building is very traditionally. Surprisingly, there are quite a few grocery shops and restaurants within 5 min of walking distance, which was one of my concerns before I arrived.

Immaculately clean and excellent, friendly service. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate our needs, even arranging for ski instructors for our kids when there usually aren’t ski lessons during the week. The food was so delicious! The buffet breakfast and special nightly dinners were such treats. We felt like royalties! The Onsens were clean and calming. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return if our travels bring us back to Myoko. Many thanks to all the staff who made our trip so memorable. We wish you all the best!

Set in Myoko in the Niigata region and Zenkoji Temple reachable within 30 km, Cafe Cerisier栖里時絵 offers accommodation with free WiFi, barbecue facilities, ski-to-door access and free private parking. Ideally located in the Ikenotaira Onsen district, this ryokan features a garden, as well as a hot spring bath. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area.

I stayed five nights snowboarding at Ikenotaira ski resorts. The inn was running two elderly couples, and their lovely granddaughter came to help during the busy season. It was more like a homestay in a Japanese family with a big house than a hotel. The rooms were nice and clean with toilets. Breakfast was delicious having fresh salad and fruit. The couples were very welcoming, and I enjoyed my solo travel very much. About IkenoTaira ski resort: If you go skiing or snowboarding, the snow where great here. During my stay, almost every day was snowing heavily. I enjoyed skiing in powder snow, it was a great feeling.

A nice Ryokan in Myoko, a little dated but quite comfortable. The rooms are spacious were were a family of 3 adults sharing a room and we all had plenty of room. Trditional futon sleeping, futons were a little thin for our comfort but the doona cover was lovely and warm. The hosts are very friendly people, nothing was too much trouble. There is a public onsen and a private onsen. We booked the private bath and it was wonderful. We had a Japanese breakfast one morning and it was delicious! The staff were exceptionally friendly

This is a small ryokan with ensuite toilets in every room run by a friendly and obliging elderly couple in great location 1km from Alpenblick skifield and 400m from Alpenblick spa with its famous black water pools and great Japanese restaurant. There is not a shared bathroom in the western sense, but a simple but authentic private onsen in house. The hot water and teabags and snacks in the corridor were much appreciated as was the hot drink and biscuits at reception on returning from skiing .

The size of the rooms was excellent with a nice view of the mountains. There were plenty of facilities with a wine bar, coffee shop, restaurants, and a games room for the kids. The onsens (hot springs were fantastic, both inside and outside. Situated in a very convenient location, close to the ski resort and restaurants. This is an excellent hotel, highly recommended 👌

Once we got settled in, we liked the private onsen booking feature so that we could, as a family, bathe together. The breakfast selection was really great and we all slept super soundly in our tatami room. Very good base for a ski holiday.

Great sized room with stunning views. We had the traditional futon to sleep on which was surprisingly comfortable. Staff were super friendly and helpful. It was great being able to grab a yummy breakfast before starting the day. Excellent location, walking distance to ski lifts and the main street. I didn't use the onsen but a few travel companions did and said it was fantastic.

the traditional room was spacious, and has a great view of the mountains. you can experience the Japanese lifestyle wearing Yukatas and sleeping on futons which were so comfortable, and you can keep your shoes on all the way to your room. the onsen was great, especially the outside one when it was snowing. the kids had fun in the games room even though it cost me with those skill testers. bars are great too with nice beer on draught.
